The Center for Strategic Communications reminded that during the martial law, passengers of "Ukrzaliznytsia" are checked in an intensified mode, because trains and stations are a security area. In particular, there are certain rules regarding things that cannot be taken with you to train stations and on a train journey. Violation of such rules may result in a fine or even criminal liability.

Basic safety rules at train stations during martial law

Citizens traveling by rail are checked at the entrance, dispatchers control the entire route after you enter the territory of the station. In addition, there is increased security.

Some train cars even have video surveillance.

What items cannot be taken with you on a train under martial law?

The train station is a security area, so it's important to follow the rules and not carry things that could harm others or get you into trouble with the law. In particular, it is forbidden to take with you:

• firearms, ammunition or special equipment, if you are NOT a military person or if these weapons are NOT registered;

• explosives;

• cold weapons without a permit for them. Exception - kitchen sports or hunting knives;

• as in peacetime, it is prohibited to transport narcotics, psychotropic substances and poisonous substances;

• self-igniting substances. For example, white phosphorus or phosphorous and siliceous hydrogen;

• flammable substances. Such as gasoline or acetone;

• radioactive substances;

• gas cylinders that were already in use.

Pay attention! It will not be possible to carry dangerous luggage inconspicuously, because during martial law, passengers of "Ukrzaliznytsia" are checked. A system of thorough inspection of passengers and their luggage has been installed at the main railway stations of Kyiv and Kharkiv. These are stationary metal detector frames, X-ray units and hand-held metal detectors.

What should you do if you notice prohibited or suspicious items on other passengers?

If you notice prohibited or suspicious items on other passengers, immediately inform an employee of "Ukrzaliznytsia" or call the police at number 102. An employee of "Ukrzaliznytsia" is also obliged to inform the police about the presence of prohibited items.

Remember that for violating the requirements, the passenger faces a fine or even criminal liability.

We will remind you! Earlier, we talked about the free services of "Ukrzaliznytsia", which not all passengers know about. Read more about what you can use while traveling by train at the link.
