The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has announced that it has started to form assault brigades "Offensive Guard". Volunteers who want to help liberate Ukrainian territories from russian occupiers can join the Guard units. Read more about the "Offensive Guard" below.

The "Offensive Guard" will consist of several assault brigades of the National Guard, the National Police and the State Border Guard Service. Stormtroopers will be able to participate in the liberation of Luhansk and Donetsk regions, as well as Crimea from the russian invaders.

Which brigades can volunteers join?

Brigades of the National Guard:

• "Bureviy";

• “Chervona Kalyna”;

• "Rubizh";

• "Spartan";

• "Azov".

National Police Brigade:

• "Lyutʹ".

Brigade of the State Border Service:

• "Steel border".

How do they plan to recruit and train recruits?

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the basis of the units will be policemen, border guards, and national guardsmen. But the officer corps will consist of sergeants and soldiers who have combat experience and showed themselves in the best way during the defense of Donbas since 2014 and the liberation of Kharkiv region in 2022.

Soldiers will not be sent to the front without training. They will first undergo intensive training with combat combat. Only after that they can be sent to combat zones exclusively for offensive operations.

It is planned that the training of recruits will be conducted by the best instructors in fire training and tactical medicine, who will be equipped with high-quality weapons and equipment.

How to join the "Offensive Guard" and is there a salary?

A potential volunteer can submit a questionnaire on the website storm.mvs.gov.ua. The questionnaire can also be submitted through the Centers for the provision of administrative services. The candidate must pass a military medical board, pass a psychological and physical test, then he will be enrolled in the brigade of his choice.

As for salaries and benefits, the volunteers of the "Offensive Guard" will have the same salaries and benefits as the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Volunteers will have two options - to sign a contract or to participate in hostilities as part of the mobilization.

What are the other benefits?

• the opportunity to obtain a higher education at a higher educational institution during service - free of charge or with a discount;

• annual leave, the duration of which increases with the increase in years of service;

• in addition to the general insurance length of service, the service is also included in the civil service length of service;

Only during the first day of the formation of the offensive brigades, 3,086 people who wanted to take part in the liberation of the territory of Ukraine applied to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Center for the Provision of Administrative Services.

As of February 7, 2023, 9,000 Ukrainians have applied to join the ranks of the "Offensive Guard".
