The new school year will begin on September 1 in a face-to-face format. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Education and Science Andriy Vitrenko during the all-Ukrainian news on June 7.

"I want to inform parents, pupils and students: on September 1, the educational process in Ukraine will be resumed offline, and all children, students, and pupils must go to schools, universities, colleges, vocational schools," Vitrenko said.

At the same time, Serhiy Shkarlet, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, stressed that only by creating the safest conditions can full-time education be resumed. According to him, the decision to resume training will depend on the security situation in a particular region. The main condition for the start of the educational process is the availability of facilities for a temporary stay of children and teachers during air raids.

To this end, the Ministry of Education and Science has launched an inspection of places that can be used as bomb shelters for students in case of danger. The Ministry will also develop appropriate requirements for shelters and evacuation routes.

Some schools in Ukraine have bomb shelters; if the building does not have a hiding place, it must be equipped. Safe routes for evacuation to shelters outside the school will be provided by the SES.

The final decision on online or offline learning will be made by local authorities, as the Ministry does not have direct management of educational institutions. The ministry called on local authorities to check the availability of shelters, notification systems, and evacuation routes in educational institutions before making a decision.

Shkarlet also said that students will not be expelled if they do not attend classes offline. Such children will be able to attend classes remotely.
