Another
notable place in Lviv is the House of Scientists (6 Listopadovoy Chinu St.) -
one of the most luxurious buildings in Lviv and Ukraine, which is a beautiful
example of neo-baroque, with extremely refined interiors. The premises have
preserved the spirit of luxury of a social salon of the end of the 19th
century.
The house was
built as a casino, and wild fortunes were once lost and won here. It was called
in different ways: aristocratic, noble, count, noble. People called it
"Gerhard's Casino". Grand balls of the local nobility took place
here. And today a wide variety of balls are held here: "chocolate",
"flower", "velvet" and others.
The
interiors of the building have been preserved to this day in a fairly good
condition, so they are occasionally used for filming, including the movie
"D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers". Also, this place is a
mandatory point in the photo sessions of most couples getting married in Lviv.
