Program

6.30 - a departure from Dnipro by a comfortable bus from the railway station. 10.30 - arrival in Poltava. Let's start the journey with a visit to the gastronomic museum, a master class on making dumplings and a tasting of liqueurs. While we are tasting liqueurs and listening to stories about the gastronomic preferences of the inhabitants of the Poltava region, our dumplings are already cooking. Also, before getting acquainted with Poltava, we will have lunch: dumplings, salad, flatbreads with cheese, and uzvar. Then, the bus will take us on a tour of Poltava. We will find out where the river flows underground, the name of which the city bears, we will climb Ivanova Hora and take a photo near the monument to dumplings and a white gazebo, we will walk around the estate of the famous Kotlyarevskyi, we will see the Dormition Cathedral, Round Square and have free time for a walk to buy Poltava sweets and drink a cup of coffee. We will leave Poltava and go to Dykanka. Guess why it has that name? Here is the hint: many residents of the village still bear the surname Dykan... or maybe because there were wild forests all around?... We will take a walk through the oak forest to the 800-year-old oaks where the young Motrya and the elderly Mazepa met and hear the story of their strange love. We will see the Mykolaiv Church, where the Kochubey princes were buried, and take a picture near the old windmill. And the main landmark of the Gogol Poltava region awaits us - a farm near Dykanka. There Mykola Gogol stayed in the inn of the Pronya Cossack farm, travelling home to his native Vasylivka, in the Myrhorod region. There he was creatively inspired to write the famous collection "Evenings on a farm near Dykanka". There Gogol's heroes are waiting for us, to get us to those old times in a whirlwind of soirées. A theatrical performance, a walk through a colourful farm and treats from Mrs Solokha await us at a farm near Dykanka. 17.00 - departure. 21:00 - Arrival in Dnipro
