Spain's coastline attracts tourists with warm sandy beaches, delicious cuisine, and a variety of entertainment. However, it is important to be careful, as some restrictions in the country may come as a surprise to tourists and lead to fines.

Here are the "beach bans" that you should definitely take into account when traveling to sunny Spain to avoid any troubles.

Vacationing with pets

In Spain, pets are not allowed on beaches everywhere, so it's best to find out before your vacation whether you can take your pet to a particular beach.

Fines for violation of this rule can range from 90 to 1,500 euros, but on a positive note, guide dogs and rescue dogs are not prohibited on beaches.

Activities and entertainment

You should be careful with active games on some beaches in Spain. Playing ball or other outdoor games is prohibited on some coasts due to the possibility of injury to other vacationers.

Violation of these rules, as well as drinking alcoholic beverages on beaches, is punishable by fines ranging from 500 to 3,000 euros.

In addition, it is also forbidden to make loud noise or play music with a volume of more than 45 decibels, which can be punished with a fine of up to 700 euros.

Prohibition of smoking and open flames

Smoking is not allowed on some beaches in Barcelona, Andalusia, Cantabria, Valencia, and the Canary Islands. Tourists and locals who disregard this rule may be subject to fines ranging from 30 to 450 euros.

To smoke, you need to go to a specially equipped area.

Barbecues are also prohibited on beaches without a special permit. Violation of this rule may result in fines of up to 3,000 euros.

In addition, illegal camping on the sand should be avoided, as tourists will have to pay from 40 to 150 euros for each illegally occupied meter of beach in Valencia, and in Murcia, the fine can be up to 1,500 euros. Lighting fires on beaches can also be expensive - a fine of up to 1,500 euros.

Other interesting prohibitions while on vacation on the Spanish coast

Another interesting prohibition is relevant on some beaches in Valencia - it is forbidden to take up space by spreading an umbrella or leaving towels on the sand. Fines of up to 3,000 euros can be imposed for this violation.

Some beaches also prohibit the use of shampoo and gel in beach showers for safety and environmental reasons. Fines of up to 750 euros may be levied for such violations.

It is worth noting that the Spanish police usually first remind you of the rules, and fines for violations are imposed only in case of repeated disregard. To avoid inconveniences, it is better to always check the rules of conduct on the chosen beach and follow them to enjoy your vacation to the fullest.

We remind you! Many Ukrainians who plan to visit Spain by car do not even know what rules they may encounter in this country. Find out what documents you need to take with you and what you need to know about traffic rules on Spanish roads here.
