Protests by Polish carriers and Hungarian farmers at Ukraine's borders continue, with hundreds of trucks blocked. And at those checkpoints where there is no blockade, queues are growing as drivers look for alternative routes. What is happening at the border now and where the longest queues are, we will tell you further in the article.

Which checkpoints on the Ukrainian border are blocked?

According to Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, the Poles are obstructing the movement of trucks at two checkpoints: Yahotyn and Rava-Ruska. The Poles are also threatening to block the Ustyluh-Zosyn and Uhryniv-Dolhobychuv checkpoints. The Shehyni checkpoint, where the blockade was previously in place, is now unblocked, but the situation may change at any time.

At the same time, the SBGS spokesperson noted that due to drivers looking for alternative ways to cross the Ukrainian-Polish border, significant queues have formed at the Krakivets checkpoint. As of February 12, there were about 1,000 trucks in the queue.

More than 1,000 trucks with cargo remain blocked. According to Andriy Demchenko, 400 trucks are blocked opposite Rava-Ruska and another 650 are blocked opposite Yahodyn.

At the same time, Hungarian farmers resumed their protest near the Záhony checkpoint on Friday, February 9. They are demanding a review of the European Commission's decision to extend duty-free imports of Ukrainian products. In addition to being dissatisfied with the rules for importing products, they said that Ukraine is allegedly imposing GMO products on EU consumers.

What is the best way to travel to and from Ukraine?

The blockade of freight transport at the Ukrainian border does not prevent the movement of buses and cars, but there are still queues at the checkpoints. The most busy checkpoints are:

– On the border with Poland: Ustyluh, Shehyni, Uhryniv, Rava-Ruska, Krakivets;

– on the border with Slovakia: Uzhhorod;

– on the border with Hungary: Tisa;

– on the border with Romania: Dyakove;

– on the border with Moldova: Rososhany.

Therefore, for a quick border crossing, it is better to choose the least busy checkpoints. For a complete list of checkpoints and instructions on checking the queues at the border, please follow the link.

Remember! To travel abroad by car, the driver must take out a Green Card insurance policy. This car insurance is mandatory in 50 countries, including the EU. If the driver does not have an insurance policy, he or she will have to compensate for all damages (to the car, driver and passengers) at his or her own expense. At the same time, he will additionally be fined for not having insurance for the vehicle, the amount of which depends on the period of insurance expiration. In some cases, the police may seize the vehicle and deport the driver with a subsequent entry ban.

You can apply for a Green Card quickly and easily here. There is a special offer on the website: when you take out a car insurance policy for traveling abroad for a period of 1 month or more, you will receive fuel as a gift, or for a period of 6 months or more - + 15 days of the policy as a gift.

We remind you! this year, drivers will be issued newly designed driver's licenses and vehicle registration certificates. This innovation was introduced to make it more difficult to produce fake driving licenses. Read more about the updated documents in our previous article.
