Israel updates visa-free rules with Ukraine: what Ukrainians need to know
Inhaltsübersicht
At the end of May, Israel updated the rules of visa-free travel with Ukraine, and the changes will come into force this summer. Find out how to obtain an ETA-IL permit, what you need to know before applying, and other important details for planning your trip
In 2024, Israel introduced a new entry procedure for foreigners, including Ukrainian citizens. In particular, the ETA-IL verification service has been launched. Citizens of the United States and Germany will be the first to test the new system on June 1, and for citizens of other countries that have a visa-free regime with Israel, the service will start operating on August 1.
How to obtain an ETA-IL permit?
To obtain an ETA-IL permit to enter Israel, you need to submit an application. This applies to travel for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes. At the same time, Israel and Ukraine have agreed to temporarily abolish the administrative fee for Ukrainians for using the ETA-IL service. This decision will be valid until 2025.

Application procedure
You can apply online on a special resource.
Deadline for submission: It is recommended to submit the application at least 72 hours before the start of the trip.
Sequence of actions: Submit the application first, and only then book a hotel and buy tickets. This ensures that your expenses are not wasted.
The ETA-IL permit will be valid for multiple trips for two years from the date of authorization or until the passport expires. That is, if a traveler has already received an ETA-IL permit for travel, he or she no longer needs to re-apply for entry into Israel during the validity period of the ETA-IL (i.e. up to two years).
The application is processed by the competent Israeli authority within 24-72 hours.
