Ukrainian bookshelves: what is it and in which countries can you find Ukrainian books?
Ukrainian culture is one of the most important aspects in the struggle of the people of Ukraine for their freedom and memory. Find out what role the Ukrainian Bookshelves project is playing and in which countries it is already operational
The Ukrainian Bookshelves project has already been launched in 50 countries and continues to expand to promote Ukrainian culture. Here's what this cultural campaign is all about and in which libraries you can already find works by Ukrainian authors.
Where does the project operate?
You can find Ukrainian books in 50 countries around the world:
Austria, Turkey, Lithuania, Slovakia, Sweden, Czech Republic, France, the Netherlands, Greece, Latvia, Finland, Jordan, Croatia, Lebanon, Japan, Belgium, Albania, Republic of Korea, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Norway, Moldova, Qatar, Slovenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Portugal, South Africa, Cyprus, the UAE, Namibia, North Macedonia, Hungary, Indonesia, Armenia, the United Kingdom, Serbia, the United States, Romania, Singapore, Mexico, Denmark, Argentina, Canada, Costa Rica, and at the headquarters of the international organisation UNESCO.
In total, more than 50,000 Ukrainian books are presented on 200 shelves in various libraries in Europe, Asia, Africa, and both Americas. In some countries, several shelves with Ukrainian books have been opened at once.

What is the essence of the Ukrainian Bookshelves project?
The project is not just for reading. The books are in the context of the Ukrainian struggle for freedom and the preservation of cultural identity, memory, and history.
"Books are also waging a liberation struggle against Russian invaders, telling the truth about Ukraine, our culture, and history," said First Lady Olena Zelenska, the leader of the initiative.
