Border crossing
Refugees drive into Romania from Ukraine through Porubne, Dyakove, Solotvyne and other checkpoints. You can also get to Romania through the checkpoints with Moldova: Kostesti-Stinka, Giurgiulesti-Galati, Lipcani-Redeuc-Prut. You can learn about the monitoring of queues at the border here. Each of these applications for refugee status will be processed under an accelerated procedure, but in full compliance with Romanian law.
A foreign biometric passport is enough to cross the border. If it is missing - you can use Ukrainian passport. Children under the age of 16 traveling with their parents must have a birth certificate. In addition, children have the right to cross the border with one parent (without the official permission of the other parent). If the child is traveling with acquaintances or relatives, you need a travel permit of one of the parents certified by a notary.
Housing and food
Romania accepts Ukrainian refugees without unnecessary formalities under a simplified procedure. Six refugee centers have been set up in the country. They are located in Timisoara, Maramures, Suceava, Giurgiu, Tulcea and Bucharest. The Romanian government accommodates mothers with children from Ukraine free of charge. Meals are provided free of charge until the situation is resolved. The decision taken by the European Union provides the right of citizens and residents of Ukraine to live, work, receive medical care, housing and education immediately for up to one year, without the need for lengthy asylum procedures, that was said by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
