Starting from September 4, 2023, temporary protection in the Netherlands will not apply to refugees from Ukraine who do not have Ukrainian citizenship. This is reported by schengenvisainfo.com.

Thousands of refugees will have to leave the Netherlands: what is known
It is emphasized that if persons without Ukrainian citizenship do not apply for international asylum, they will have to leave the Netherlands within 28 days.
The government believes that most third-country nationals who fled Ukraine can return to their country of origin.
According to State Secretary Eric van der Burgh, if they no longer fear violence or persecution in their home country, they can apply for asylum with us. This is an important aspect that we took into account when deciding to end temporary protection for this category of people on September 4.

In particular, a few months ago, the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) began to process applications from third-country nationals who had applied for asylum. These persons were divided into two groups:
- those who came from safe countries;
- refugees from Yemen and Syria.
About 700 applicants have already expressed a desire to go through the asylum procedure.
The rest will be offered financial assistance in the amount of 2000 euros to facilitate their return to their homeland. Municipalities will provide these refugees from Ukraine with temporary housing for 28 days.
Those refugees who do not leave the Netherlands voluntarily will be considered illegal residents of the country.
At the same time, temporary protection for refugees with Ukrainian citizenship in the Netherlands will be extended until March 4, 2024.
As you know, since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the Netherlands has provided asylum to more than 94 thousand refugees.
We remind you! The United States government has extended the temporary protection for refugees from Ukraine who have been forced to move. Find out more about how long Ukrainians can legally stay in the country in our article.
