Ukrainians have been simplified the transfer to Vienna and back: updated route
Travelers who are going to travel to Vienna in the near future or return from the Austrian capital via Hungary have been asked to transfer by Kyiv-Vienna-Kyiv and Vienna-Chop-Vienna cars. Find out more about how to get there now
Hungarian Railways has announced simplified transfers for passengers traveling on the Kyiv-Vienna-Kyiv and Vienna-Chop-Vienna trains.
Earlier, on October 19, Ukrzaliznytsia announced unplanned repairs on the railroad between Budapest and Vienna, which led to a temporary restriction of the movement of cars #431, 432 Kyiv-Vienna-Kyiv and #430 Vienna-Chop-Vienna.
As a result, trains between the Austrian and Hungarian capitals were interrupted, and passengers had to change trains only to Budapest-Keleti station.
Ukrainians planning a trip to Vienna or returning via Hungary have simplified the transfer: details
Hungarian railroaders have simplified transfers for passengers of cars #431 and #430, which run on the Kyiv-Vienna-Kyiv and Vienna-Chop-Vienna routes. This initiative is in response to the unplanned track works announced by Budapest and Vienna.
"The changes will be in effect from October 27 to November 17 departing from Vienna (from 26.10 to 17.11 for wagon 430 Vienna-Chop) and from October 26 to November 16 departing from Kyiv (from 27.10 to 18.11 for wagon 430 Chop-Vienna)," the statement said.
In particular, those who are planning a trip to Vienna should:
Transfer to a special bus upon arrival at the Solnok station at 06:52, which will take passengers to the Tatabania station. After that, you should take a train to Vienna at 10:26, which will take you to the Austrian capital at 12:21. If you have purchased a ticket to Vienna for the above dates, transfers will be free of charge.
"If you have a ticket for carriage #430 Chop-Vienna, you can use other sitting cars in the Chop-Záhony and Záhony-Budapest trains, with which your carriage #430 was supposed to travel, for free, and then follow the instructions above," UZ adds.

The train departs at 21:04, and you do not need to pay extra for transfers if you have a ticket from Vienna.
"If you have a ticket for carriage #430 Vienna - Chop, you can use this instruction for free, and use other sitting cars on the trains Budapest - Záhony and from Záhony - Chop," UZ notes.
Currently, Ukrainians are advised to consider other international destinations for travel during the repair work in Hungary.
