The EU's annual report on the quality of life in European countries showed that about 90% of EU residents are satisfied with life in their city. At the same time, analysts noted that smaller cities have begun to be perceived by people as better options in many aspects. In particular, in terms of health, safety, housing affordability, and public administration. In addition, such cities are the best option for the elderly, families with children, and migrants.

The Swiss city of Zurich took the honorable first place. Thus, based on the satisfaction of local residents with their lives, this city was recognized not only as the most expensive in the world, but also as the best city to move to in 2024. Here, 97% of surveyed residents are fully satisfied with the city.
The second and third places were shared by Copenhagen (Denmark) and Groningen (the Netherlands) with 96% of satisfied residents each.

At the same time, Groningen, Braga and Gdansk are among the top ten cities that are considered the best for immigrants to move and live in. The list also includes Cardiff, Glasgow and Tyneside (UK), Lisbon (Portugal), Barcelona (Spain), Hamburg (Germany) and Helsinki (Finland).

The lowest level of satisfaction with life in one's city was recorded in Palermo, Rome and Naples (Italy), Athens (Greece), Istanbul (Turkey), Tirana (Albania), Belgrade (Serbia), Skopje (North Macedonia), Miskolc (Hungary) and Podgorica (Montenegro).
