Colombians, Moroccans, Chinese, russians, and more: what unexpected countries did citizens of Ukraine visit in the first half of 2024?
In the first half of 2024, more than 1.1 million foreigners visited Ukraine, almost 42% of whom were EU citizens. But who are the rest? Find out from what unexpected and sometimes very remote parts of the world tourists came to Ukraine in the first half of this year
Between January 1 and July 1, 2024, more than 1.1 million foreign citizens from 172 countries visited Ukraine. This is according to official statistics provided by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine at the request of Visit Ukraine. By the way, you can see the top 30 countries whose citizens came to Ukraine most often in our previous article.
It is interesting that:
– 41.89% of all foreigners who visited Ukraine in the first half of 2024 were EU citizens,
– another 43.75% were citizens of one country - Moldova,
– US and Turkish citizens are among the top 10 leaders in terms of visits to Ukraine, but together they account for only 3.88% of the total number of foreigners.

According to the data provided by the State Border Guard Service, the top 30 “unexpected” countries in the Visit Ukraine ranking are:
1. Israel - 23,918 citizens
2. russia - 7,591 citizens
3. Egypt - 3,614 citizens
4. China - 3,280 citizens
5. Belarus - 2 254 citizens
6. Colombia - 1,809 citizens
7. Kazakhstan - 1,433 citizens
8. Serbia - 854 citizens
9. Kyrgyzstan - 788 citizens
10. Australia - 752 citizens
11. Indonesia - 708 citizens
12. Tajikistan - 664 citizens
13. Japan - 658 citizens
14. Brazil - 627 citizens
15. Lebanon - 578 citizens
16. Vietnam - 546 citizens
17. Myanmar (Burma) - 484 citizens
18. South Korea - 462 citizens
19. Turkmenistan - 436 citizens
20. Sri Lanka - 382 citizens
21. Macedonia - 375 citizens
22. Nigeria - 358 citizens
23. Jordan - 344 citizens
24. Iraq - 318 citizens
25. Albania - 298 citizens

In addition, in the first half of 2024, Ukraine was visited by: 184 foreigners from New Zealand, 178 from Iran, 120 from Kenya, 116 from Cameroon, 115 from Palestine, 112 from Taiwan (China), 111 from Bangladesh, 109 from Mexico, 108 from Luxembourg, 107 from Peru, 101 from Tunisia, 97 from Malta, 95 from Yemen, 94 from North Korea (DPRK) and Chile, 92 from Sudan, 91 from Nepal, 88 from Iceland, 81 from Ethiopia, 69 from Montenegro, 66 from South Africa, 52 from Thailand, 43 from Hong Kong, 42 from Venezuela, 38 from Zimbabwe, 36 from Malaysia, 33 from Cuba, 28 from Saudi Arabia and Uganda, 21 from the Republic of Congo and Honduras, 20 from the UAE and Kuwait, 18 from Guatemala, 16 from Mongolia, 15 from Qatar, 13 from San Marino and Singapore, 12 from Zambia, the Dominican Republic and Senegal, 11 from Fiji, El Salvador and Angola, 10 from Costa Rica, 8 from Guinea, Paraguay and Jamaica, 7 from Tanzania, 6 from Rwanda, Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritania, Bolivia and Haiti, 5 from Liechtenstein and Nicaragua, 4 from Eritrea and the Papal See (Vatican), 3 from Monaco, Mauritius and Greenland, 2 from Cambodia, and 1 from Gabon and Oman.
However, as we said earlier, this is only a part of the countries from which foreigners came to Ukraine in the first half of 2024, as the full list includes 172 countries.
Remember! Regardless of the purpose of entering Ukraine and the duration of your trip, it is mandatory for every foreign citizen to obtain an appropriate insurance policy.
