Which EU countries visited Ukraine the most in the first half of 2024?
More than 1 million foreigners have visited Ukraine since the beginning of 2024, with a significant number of them being citizens of the European Union. Find out how many Europeans traveled to Ukraine, from which countries most tourists came, and what their purpose was.
Between January 1 and July 1, 2024, more than 1.1 million foreign citizens from 172 countries visited Ukraine. This is according to official statistics provided by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine at the request of Visit Ukraine. You can see the top 30 countries whose citizens came to Ukraine most often in our previous article. We'll tell you how many foreigners from the European Union came to Ukraine and what their purpose was below.

How many EU citizens have entered Ukraine since the beginning of 2024?
In total, 497,847 EU citizens visited Ukraine in the first half of 2024. It should be noted that this is 41.89% of the total number of foreigners who have entered Ukraine since the beginning of 2024.
Interestingly, the number of Moldovan citizens who visited Ukraine exceeds the total number of EU citizens and amounts to 519,906, which is 43.75% of the total number of foreigners. Thus, EU and Moldovan citizens accounted for 85.64% of all foreign visitors to Ukraine in the first half of 2024. However, it is worth noting that countries such as the United States, Israel, and Turkey are among the top 10 countries in terms of visits to Ukraine.
For reference: in 2023, the situation was similar: out of almost 2.5 million foreign nationals who entered the country during the year, just over one million were Moldovan citizens.

Rating of EU countries whose citizens most often came to Ukraine
Thus, the ranking of EU countries by the number of citizens who came to Ukraine is as follows:

4. Slovakia - 31,715
5. Germany - 20,788
6. Italy - 9,854
7. Czech Republic - 9,351

In terms of the purpose of entry, 98.99% of all EU foreigners came for private purposes, 0.93% entered as vehicle maintenance personnel, and another 0.08% crossed the country in transit. Interestingly, 0.002% of foreigners indicated that they were visiting Ukraine for tourism or study purposes.
However, as we said earlier, this is only a part of the countries from which foreigners came to Ukraine, as the full list includes 172 countries.
Remember! Regardless of the purpose of entering Ukraine and the duration of your trip, it is mandatory for every foreign citizen to obtain an appropriate insurance policy.
