For the past two days, Ukraine has been subjected to massive rocket fire from the aggressor. For this purpose, the Russian Federation chose the critical infrastructure facilities of the cities of Ukraine, which are located in the deep rear. The Russians use different types of missiles. Launches are carried out in several waves from the waters of the Black and Caspian seas, as well as from aircraft, using various types of missiles: Kh-101, Kh-555, Kalibr, Iskander, S-300, Tornado, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, including Iranian Shahed 136.

        • On October 10, 2022, the enemy launched 84 cruise missiles and 24 unmanned aerial vehicles, from which the Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 56 targets - 43 missiles and 13 UAVs.

        • On October 11, the enemy launched 30 cruise missiles, carried out 7 airstrikes, fired 25 times with MLRS and used unmanned aerial vehicles, from which Ukrainian defenders destroyed 20 missiles and 13 UAVs.

However, the rest of the missiles that hit the targets caused significant damage.

Consequences of enemy shelling

In two days, 19 Ukrainians were killed by shelling, and more than 100 people were injured. About 30% of Ukraine's energy infrastructure was damaged by the occupiers' missiles. Subscribers in Lviv Oblast, Khmelnytskyi Oblast, Kyiv Oblast, Vinnytsia Oblast, Cherkasy Oblast, Sumy Oblast, Ternopil Oblast, Chernihiv Oblast, Poltava Oblast, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Kharkiv Oblast and other regions of Ukraine remained without power.

In Kyiv, hits were recorded in 4 districts of the city: Shevchenkivskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Holosiivskyi and Desnyanskyi. 45 residential buildings, 5 objects of critical infrastructure, educational, cultural, social sphere, health care and administrative buildings were damaged. Among them are the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, the Taras Shevchenko National Museum, and the Khanenko Museum.

In Lviv, 4 electrical substations were damaged, which not only supplied the region, but also exported energy. Moreover, two of them were hit again on October 11. This is the largest attack on the city since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.

On October 10, 90% of the regional center was cut off, the system was restored, but on October 11, due to a repeated attack, more than 30% of Lviv's subscribers were left without power.

On the night of October 10, the Russian military fired 7 rockets at Zaporizhzhia, which damaged infrastructure facilities. One rocket hit a five-story building in the city center, as a result of which one section of the building was completely destroyed. Damaged educational institutions - kindergarten and gymnasium.

The occupiers launched more than 10 rockets in Dnipropetrovsk region. The targets of the attacks were critical infrastructure facilities, residential areas and transport stops. In the Vinnytsia region, Ladyzhynska TPP came under fire, in Ivano-Frankivsk - Burshtynska TPP. 50% of the residents of Khmelnytskyi, about 60,000 subscribers in the Sumy region and many people throughout Ukraine remained without electricity.

It is worth noting that the lack of light also interferes with the stable operation of water supply and sewage systems. Ukrainians were urged not to turn on energy-intensive appliances from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. - electric heaters, boilers, electric stoves, microwave ovens, washing machines, electric kettles, air conditioners, irons, etc. Such actions will help to stabilize the operation of the power system.

As a result of the missile strikes in Ukraine, a regime of total electricity savings has been introduced for the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Vinnytsia regions. Fan shutdowns have been introduced in the Kyiv region, including in the capital and in the Cherkasy and Ternopil regions.

Reaction of the world community

Western politicians quickly reacted to the mass shelling of Ukraine. UN Secretary General António Guterres, President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and other Western figures commented on the events in Ukraine. Most of them were shocked and amazed by the brutal attacks on Ukrainian cities, some promised to provide Ukraine with additional weapons, including modern anti-aircraft systems.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held urgent talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, during which the states agreed to convene an emergency meeting of the "Big Seven" group. The President of Ukraine also spoke with the President of France Emmanuel Macron, the President of Poland Andrzej Duda, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamimon bin Hamadoon Al Thani, as well as the Prime Ministers of the Netherlands, Great Britain, Canada and many other world leaders.

Ukrainians are an invincible nation!

Massive shelling did not break the spirit of the Ukrainian people. In most regions of Ukraine, the "Air Alarm" signal sounded on October 10 and 11 for almost 5 hours each day. Citizens were all this time in bomb shelters and other safe places. However, after the end of the danger, with new forces they returned to the struggle and reconstruction of the state.

In just a day, Ukrainian utility workers restore electricity supply in most regions of the country. The infrastructure of cities is being actively repaired: for example, in Dnipro there is no longer a trace of a deep crater left by a rocket on one of the city's busy streets, traffic has resumed there.

The rest of the citizens support the economy of the state and make donats to take revenge with new force. According to Serhiy Prytula's Charitable Foundation, Ukrainians collected 352 million hryvnias for kamikaze drones instead of the planned 100 million hryvnias.
