In a few days, winter will officially begin, which, according to experts' forecasts, will become the hardest in the entire history of Ukraine's independence. In order to be as prepared as possible, the Ministry of Health has collected simple and effective tips for Ukrainians that will help maintain a comfortable temperature at home and not freeze when the winter cold comes.


How to keep warm when the apartment is cold?


👉🏼 First and foremost - follow the rules of layering - wear several warm things at once (for example, a thermal coat, clothes made of natural fabrics, warm socks, and you can additionally cover yourself with a blanket or a blanket).


Why do you need three layers of clothing?


The first layer absorbs moisture;

The second - keeps heat;

The third one protects against drafts, wind and rain.


👉🏼 Insulate the room - it is important not to let the heat "out" from the room (check whether it is cold from the doors and windows, and also remove everything that is close to the battery, because it prevents the spread of heat).


👉🏼 Do not drink alcohol - it does not warm at all, but only gives an imaginary feeling of warmth (when drinking alcohol, blood vessels expand and blood flows to the surface of the body, at the same time internal organs lose heat - this is why you cannot use alcohol to warm the body).


👉🏼 Use a heating pad - to warm the bed and warm yourself, you can pour hot water into a heating pad or a regular plastic bottle, wrap it in a towel and put it in bed (under the blanket, the pad will keep you warm until morning).


👉🏼 Do physical exercises - do not sit still, because movement is the best way to warm up (even a simple exercise for 15-20 minutes will help to overcome the cold).


👉🏼 Drink hot drinks and food - hot tea, coffee, soups will help you warm up (in conditions of fan power outages and in the absence of a gas stove, take care of a quality thermos and prepare a hot drink in advance), while there is light, or boil in places where there is a generator. For example, in "Unbreakable Points" or heating points.


👉🏼 Use natural heat - in sunny weather, open the curtains, and it will add a couple of degrees of warmth to the house (at night, you should close them to prevent additional cooling of the room).


Attention‼️ Follow the rules of fire safety and in no case use an oven and a gas stove to heat a house or apartment. This can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.
