PLN 300 plus: Poland increases benefits for refugee children

From now on, Ukrainians temporarily residing in Poland will receive increased child benefit payments. The article describes how much the amount will increase and how to apply for the benefit. 


Increase in child benefits in Poland: what is known 


A representative of the Polish Law and Justice party, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, recently made a statement on increasing the amount of child benefits under the 500+ programme. In turn, the Prime Minister of the country confirmed that this proposal would be considered at the next meeting. 


From 1 January 2024, Ukrainian families with children living in Poland will receive PLN 300 more. The total amount of assistance will be PLN 800. 


It is noted that despite the increase in the amount of payments, the name of the programme will remain "500+".

How to apply for benefits: instructions 


To apply for child benefit, you need to apply to ZUS for assistance:


  • The PUE ZUS website or the mZUS mobile application;
  • Emp@tia portal;
  • Banking services.


The application must be accompanied by a document confirming the legality of residence in Poland. Namely:


  • A beaten card with a mark "access to the labour market";
  • PESEL card with the UKR icon;
  • Permanent residence permit;
  • Confirmed refugee status or other documents.


According to official estimates, over the 7 years of the 500+ programme's existence, more than PLN 220 billion has been paid out in total.
