How much did Ukrainians travel before the war?

Before the full-scale invasion, more than 85% of Ukrainians surveyed traveled within Ukraine. Of these:

● ~39% of respondents traveled more than once a year;

● ~24% of respondents went on vacation once a year;

● ~22% of Ukrainians traveled once every two years;

● ~14% did not travel at all.

However, traveler activity indicators differ in different regions of the country. For example, residents of the western regions and the capital were the most active tourists - 44% and 55% respectively, with respondents organizing a trip more than once a year. The second place in the rating was taken by residents of the Eastern and Central regions. Thus, 32% and 34%, respectively, traveled several times a year. The lowest number of travelers was recorded in the southern regions of Ukraine: 28% of Ukrainians from the south traveled more than once a year, 22% - once a year, 28% - once every two years.

The main reason why Ukrainians refused to travel before the war was lack of money. This was the answer of 70% of respondents. Another, less common but significant reason was problems with documents. Read more about how to check your passport to avoid trouble here.

How many Ukrainians will go on vacation this summer?

A survey by the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine (DART) showed that 80.7% of Ukrainians plan to vacation within the country this summer. However, traveler activity also varies across Ukraine's regions, as follows:

● The most active tourists are residents of the capital - 84.1% of respondents plan to travel to Ukraine;

● residents of the central regions are in second place - 81.4% of respondents have planned a vacation;

● residents of the eastern regions took the third place - 80.2% of respondents plan to travel;

● Ukrainians from the western regions are in fourth place - 79.5% of respondents plan to travel;

● The last place was taken by residents of the southern regions - 77.9% of Ukrainians plan to go on vacation this summer.

In terms of age distribution, the most active tourists are Ukrainians aged 18 to 35 (84% plan to go on vacation). The second place was taken by respondents aged 36 to 45 (79%). And the last place was taken by respondents aged 46 to 60 (78.5%).

Thus, the vast majority of Ukrainians understand how important it is to stay within the resource and find ways to reboot in order to maintain resilience and a cool mind in these difficult circumstances. And traveling around Ukraine is the best way to clear your head and gain strength.
