In November, during his visit to the United States, the head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, announced that one of Ukraine's airports might be opened for civilian flights. And in December, dozens of vacancies for ground staff at Boryspil Airport appeared on the Work and Recovery website and on specialized HR services. But the ads are looking not only for aviation technicians, aircraft engineers, radar and navigation engineers, and dispatchers, but also for aircraft commanders, stewards, and even aircraft washers.

Does this mean that Boryspil Airport will soon start receiving and sending civilian aircraft? To see what Boryspil Airport looks like in the second year of the war, please follow the link.

Is Boryspil Airport opening during the war?

The media reacted very quickly to the emergence of vacancies at the airport and began to link them to the possible opening of flights to and from Ukraine. Thus, dozens of Ukrainian media outlets contacted representatives of Boryspil International Airport and the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, but according to the press services, there are no plans to reopen the airport in the near future, as it is impossible for security reasons.

Why did they open vacancies at the airport?

When asked by UNIAN whether the new vacancies were related to the possible opening of the airport, the Ministry of Infrastructure denied it.

"If we want Boryspil to be operational within a month after the victory, we have to keep it and its staff in working order throughout the war," the ministry said, adding that, for example, air traffic controllers cannot take a two-year break and then sit down at a computer and immediately send planes on flights.

At the same time, representatives of Boryspil International Airport said in a commentary to TSN.ua that they are currently trying to do everything possible to preserve the airport's infrastructure and highly qualified employees. They also added that there have always been vacancies, but not all of them are directly subordinated to the airport, because a huge number of workers employed by other companies are connected with Boryspil's activities.

How much do they pay at Boryspil Airport?

In the posted vacancies, the salary varies from UAH 9 thousand to almost UAH 33 thousand. The lowest rate is offered to aircraft washers and controllers, the average rate is offered to on-the-job training instructors and lead engineers, and the highest rate is offered to aircraft commanders.
