In Ukraine, pensioners have the opportunity to receive special pension supplements. This was reported by the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU).

We will tell you what kind of supplements we are talking about and who can count on the respective allowances in the article.

Read here where in Ukraine pensioners are paid the highest and lowest pensions.

Pension supplement in 2024: who is eligible for payments

Additional payments are provided to citizens who have exceeded the age of 70, provided that the total amount of the pension payment does not exceed UAH 10,340.35.

Currently, the amount of the age supplement is as follows:

• UAH 300 for people aged 70 to 74 inclusive,

• UAH 456 for those aged 75 to 79,

• UAH 570 for those over 80.

These allowances are automatically calculated and added to the basic pension payment.

Pensioners in poor health and unable to take care of themselves are entitled to a supplement of UAH 944. This supplement is intended for those who need outside care and are over the age of 80.

To receive this supplement, you must apply to the Pension Fund of Ukraine and submit an application together with documents confirming the need for care.

The person must meet the following criteria:

- be over 80 years old;

- live alone and require care from others.

In addition, the person must receive an old-age pension.

What other additional payments are available?

Pensioners who are working can receive an additional supplement for each year of new work activity. This supplement is also calculated automatically after the scheduled recalculation.

Currently, it is equal to UAH 23.61 (1% of the subsistence minimum for people who have lost their ability to work).

Ukrainian pensioners can also receive a pension supplement from the UN. To do so, a pensioner must meet certain conditions. In particular, the following:

• the minimum pension amount is less than UAH 3,250;

• the pensioner does not receive any international aid or veterans' benefits;

• the person resides in the frontline areas or in the combat zone.

The amount of the UN allowance is calculated individually according to a special formula. First, the amount of the pension received by a particular pensioner is deducted from the total amount of UAH 3,250, which is the maximum amount of the supplement. The resulting difference reflects the amount of additional allowance that a pensioner can receive from the UN. For example, if a pensioner receives a pension of UAH 3,000, his or her additional allowance will be UAH 250.
