Ukraine has a difficult situation in the energy system due to systematic shelling by russia. Due to the electricity shortage, the government may introduce changes to school schedules. Find out what options are being considered and what the Cabinet of Ministers is proposing
Amid the difficult situation in the energy system, Ukraine is considering a new school schedule for the next academic year. The government is considering various options, including online learning, shifting the timetable and extending winter holidays.
According to Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi, a number of measures will be introduced in the winter to improve the educational process. In extreme cases, it is possible to return to mixed learning in schools.
According to the Minister, there are two approaches to the educational process.
"We are working with study schedules. Today, higher education institutions and vocational schools have to start the academic year earlier - in the warm season. They should take a long winter break and end the academic year later," he added.

At the same time, schools will not start classes earlier, but they plan to work with the class schedule, shifting it where possible.
"Regarding schools. We will not start the school year earlier. We will work with class schedules where there is no shift teaching, shifting the start of lessons in schools to 10:00. We are currently working on these recommendations," he said.
According to Lisovyi, about 30 per cent of schools are currently equipped with technical means to generate electricity. Local authorities are responsible for this issue.
"In extreme cases, we will return to blended or online learning during peak difficult periods," the minister said.
