Biden vs Trump: how the US debate went and why Democrats are talking about replacing their candidate
The first debate within the presidential race between Joe Biden and Donald Trump took place in the United States. The debate turned out to be emotional and in some moments even very sharp. Even with the fact that Biden tried to outplay Trump with facts, he failed to win. Why? Read in this material
The United States hosted a debate between presidential candidates before the elections scheduled for the fall. The two politicians had an emotional dialog with sharp remarks and insults. Here's what the presidents said, who voters think won, and why Democrats are thinking about replacing their candidate.
According to the Washington Post, Biden sometimes became noticeably withdrawn, delivering his remarks in a thin voice. He also mumbled his words and was occasionally embarrassed. This behavior of the US president caused concern among Democrats, who were worried about his age and physical condition.
Trump, on the other hand, tried to demonstrate a less loud and defiant performance. In addition, he based many of his remarks on false information, which the debate moderators did not deny.
What did you remember about the Biden-Trump debate?
American journalists say that in the most heated exchange during the debate, Biden accused Trump of having "alley cat morals" for allegedly having "sex with a porn star," referring to allegations that Trump still denies were part of his recent criminal trial in New York.
Biden also called Trump a "convicted felon" and a "whiner." The current president also reminded Trump of the storming of the US Capitol in January 2021 and condemned him for not responding to the situation.
Trump, for his part, called Biden's actions "absolutely criminal" and insisted that Biden "receives money from China" and is a "Manchurian candidate." However, he did not provide any evidence for this claim.
The former US president said that Biden's cadence was "the worst presidency in US history."
In response, Biden called Trump a "sucker" and a "loser," referring to what he called Americans who died in the war. However, Trump denied this fact.

What did they say about Ukraine?
It's worth recalling that Trump and Biden have different views on the wars currently taking place in Ukraine and the Middle East, conflicts in which American weapons play a key role.
During the debate, Trump turned to Biden and said that "the whole world is exploding under him." Biden responded by suggesting that Trump's potential policies could lead to the US withdrawing from NATO and Putin "doing his own thing" with Ukraine.
In addition, Trump accused Biden of being responsible for Russia's attack on Ukraine and said that "the billions of dollars of taxpayer funding that is going into this conflict is not needed."
Trump again stated that he would "stop the war as soon as he becomes president of the United States."
Biden vs Trump: who won the debate?
According to American experts and journalists, Biden clearly lost the debate against Trump, as he behaved uncertainly and sometimes got confused in his answers.
As for his rating, according to polls conducted by American TV channels, after the debate, Biden's rating dropped to 37%, while Trump's rating rose to 45-46%.
Speaking specifically about the debate, the majority of listeners voted for Trump's victory (67%), while Biden was supported by 33%.
Is Biden done? Democrats can replace the candidate in the election
After the failed debate, the New York Times reports that the US Democratic Party started talking about the possibility of replacing Biden with another candidate in the presidential election.
The Democrats are allegedly ready to take such a step amid the current president's "unconvincing performance." According to the Democrats, Biden has demonstrated a weak voice and an inability to present the party's position on key issues.
"Parties exist to win. A person who was on stage with Trump cannot win. Fear of Trump suppressed Biden's criticism. Now this same fear will fuel calls for his withdrawal as a candidate," the NYT writes.
American experts also believe that the Democrats are unlikely to nominate Biden for president in August. Moreover, the two US parties may collude and nominate completely different candidates, leaving Trump and Biden out of the presidential race.
We remind you! Former US President Donald Trump has repeatedly emphasized that he can end the war in Ukraine in a day, but he has not commented on how he plans to do this to the public. Here are the details of Trump's "peace plan".
