In order to drive a truck abroad legally and without any problems, it is mandatory to obtain a Green Card. We will tell you how to take out a truck policy and how to calculate the price for the required period in this article.

Documents required to cross the border by truck

● Driver's identity card;
● driver's licence;
● registration documents for the truck and trailer;
● a power of attorney authorising you to drive the vehicle;
● a valid technical inspection certificate;
● insurance policy;
● transport licence;
● cargo documents for empty vehicles;
● confirmation of the type of transport;
● documents confirming the carriage of goods in direct traffic (when returning an empty truck);
● a special sticker on the windscreen.

Green Card: insurance for a truck travelling abroad

The Green Card is a mandatory international insurance policy for all cars, including trucks. The document is required when travelling abroad for all vehicles registered in Ukraine. Without a valid policy, it is impossible to cross the border, because when crossing the border, a border guard will check the availability of the policy by scanning the unique QR code specified in the contract.

If you have a Green Card, the insurance company will indemnify you for any damage that may be caused abroad by a car that has a valid policy. It's important to remember that damage caused to third parties is covered, but the coverage does not apply to the person responsible for the accident. This means that if you hit someone else's car abroad, the insurance company will pay money to the other party to the accident, not you.

The Green Card relieves drivers of the need to worry about insurance when driving through several countries in transit, as the policy is valid in all member states of the Green Card agreement, namely in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

● country of destination;
● type of vehicle (trucks);
● insurance period;
● insurance start date.

How to take out truck insurance?

It is better to buy insurance online because it is quick and easy. On the Visit Ukraine portal, you can take out a Green Card policy from a licensed insurer.
