To mark the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine's Independence, the Ukrainian Institute has launched a large-scale communication campaign of gratitude that will spread across Europe. From London to Madrid, from Munich to Riga, airport screens will display messages of solidarity from Europeans and words of gratitude from Ukrainians.

The campaign The Least Support: How is Europe helping Ukraine?

In 20 airports across Europe, including London, Munich, Rome and Madrid, digital screens will display messages of solidarity from European citizens and words of gratitude from Ukrainians in return. Organizers say the “The Smallest Support” campaign aims to show that even simple actions, such as kind words, social media posts or a Ukrainian flag in a window, have a significant impact and are of great value to Ukrainians.

“Although the russian war against Ukraine is slowly disappearing from the world media, Europe continues to show unwavering support. Ukrainians appreciate even the smallest expressions of solidarity,” said Ksenia Kalyna, Head of Communications at the Ukrainian Institute.

The campaign will continue on August 24 with mass actions in European cities. Ten-meter-long banner ribbons with tweets of support from Europeans and words of gratitude from Ukraine will be unfurled on the streets. These banners will become a symbol of European solidarity with Ukraine, demonstrating unity and shared values.

Miniature newspapers: from posters to newspaper pages

Another important element of the campaign will be miniature newspapers - pocket-sized publications that will showcase real-life posts by Europeans on newspaper pages. Placed in popular cafes and local businesses, these “newspaper kiosks” will emphasize that even small actions can have a big impact.

Exhibition at Madrid airport: a story of support from one post

An exhibition starting on August 24 at Madrid-Barajas Adolfo Suarez Airport will complement the campaign. This event is special because a series of posters will tell the story of a Spaniard whose post in support of Ukraine triggered a wave of support across Europe. This story perfectly demonstrates how small efforts can have a big impact and become the beginning of significant changes.

More information about the campaign can be found on the official website of the Ukrainian Institute.
