How to get a mini-CASCO payout: what to do when an insured event occurs?
Many Ukrainian drivers choose mini-CTP as a convenient and affordable insurance that covers basic needs and unpleasant situations that may arise on the road. Find out more about mini-CASCO, possible covered events, the algorithm for receiving payments and the required packages of documents
Mini-CASCO is quite popular among Ukrainian drivers, as it is in fact a reduced offer for those who do not want to overpay for the entire CASCO package. Of course, the scope of insurance risks covered is also limited: an accident involving another driver, destruction of a car as a result of a natural disaster or passive consequences of war. However, drivers are usually satisfied with this option, as the location is not important for mini-CASCO, whether it is a car park or an international road. Learn more about mini-CASCO and the algorithm for receiving payments on the Visit Ukraine portal.
What is the algorithm for obtaining mini-CASCO insurance?
1. After an insured event occurs, a person must contact the company that is the insurer.
2. If the insured event is a road accident, you must contact the insurer no later than 3 days after the accident. In the notification, you must indicate the location of the car, your contact phone number and address.
3. Within 30 days of the insured event, the person must submit an application to the insurer for compensation.
What information should be provided in the claim form?
- Name of the insurer to which the claim is submitted or MTIBU;
- surname, first name, patronymic (name) of the applicant, his/her place of residence (actual and registered) or location;
- the content of the applicant's property claim for compensation for the damage caused and the information (if any) confirming it;
- information on mutual settlements already made between the persons whose liability is insured or other persons responsible for the damage and the victims;
- signature of the applicant and date of submission of the application.
What documents are attached to the claim for compensation?
- Citizen's passport or other identity document;
- a document confirming the person's right to receive insurance indemnity (for example, a power of attorney or a lease agreement), if the person is not the victim (or his/her legal representative);
- identification number;
- a document confirming the ownership of the car at the time of the insured event;
- bank details of the person.
4. Within 15 days (but no later than 90 days from the date of receipt of the application) from the date when the insurer and the person have determined the amount of compensation, the insurer shall decide on the insurance indemnity,
5. Within 3 business days after the decision is made, the insurer sends a notice to the person and makes the payment.
Please note! Payments are made to the card, and the insurer is charged a penalty for late payments in accordance with the law.
What mini-CASCO insurance packages are available?
You can currently purchase several insurance packages on the Visit Ukraine portal. To do this, you need to specify your country of citizenship, the period of insurance and the type of car (available for cars). You will then be able to choose one of the following options:
- Mini-CASCO ‘Maximum + military risks’;
- Mini-CASCO ‘Basic’;
- Mini-CASCO ‘Economy’.
What insured events are covered by mini-CASCO?
The services provided depend on the mini-CASCO package. The largest amount of coverage is, of course, the ‘Maximum + Military Risks’ package.
What insured events are covered by the ‘Maximum + Military Risks’ mini-CASCO package?
- complete destruction of the vehicle in case of passive war risks (for more information on passive war risks, see the material on Visit Ukraine);
- tow truck costs;
- Road traffic accident in the presence of a second party to the event;
- complete destruction of the vehicle as a result of a natural disaster.
What insured events are covered by the ‘Basic’ mini-CASCO package?
- Complete destruction of the vehicle as a result of a natural disaster.
- Road traffic accident if there is a second party to the event.
What insured events are covered by the ‘Economy’ mini-CASCO package?
- Road traffic accidents in the presence of the second party to the event.
Of course, in the conditions of a full-scale invasion, we recommend taking out the ‘Maximum’ package, because it is the only one that guarantees coverage of military risks. You can do this on the Visit Ukraine portal.
