This year, Ukraine will celebrate Independence Day in a different festive atmosphere. In connection with the full-scale war, which has been going on in our land for almost 6 months, almost all mass events have been canceled. The authorities call on citizens to be as vigilant as possible this week, while some regions of Ukraine are introducing restrictions.

What exactly will change in the life of the regions?

In the Kharkiv region, the curfew has been increased, from August 22 to 25, it will last from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. the next day. On Independence Day, the curfew in the region will generally last more than a day - from 19:00 on August 23 to 07:00 on August 25. During the curfew, it is forbidden to be in public places, as well as to move on the street.

The Kyiv military Administration has banned any mass events during August 22-25. On Independence Day, the subway will reduce its work, the new schedule is from 06:00 to 21:00. Also, some sources report that employees of the government quarter have been transferred to remote work.

The head of Mykolayiv regional military Administration Vitaliy Kim also reported on the preparation of an order regarding remote work of employees on holidays. The leader urged not to hold mass events and not to gather in large groups.

In Lviv and Sumy, there were no plans to cancel the celebrations, but the regional leadership notes that the events will not be massive.

It is interesting that in the occupied Kherson Oblast, the invaders are expecting actions by the resistance forces on Independence Day, so filtering measures have been intensified in the region. Sources report searches of local residents, especially mobile phones.

What should we expect from the enemy?

The President of Ukraine, the heads of the Office of the President, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other representatives of the authorities predict an increase in enemy shelling, including missile attacks, this week. Nataliya Gumenyuk, spokeswoman for the "South" operational command, warned that the occupiers have increased the presence of Kalibr-type cruise missile carriers in the Black Sea. In total, these are five ships and submarines.

The country's leadership also warns about the possible holding of a demonstration "trial" in Mariupol over the captured defenders of "Azovstal". It is not excluded that the enemy may launch a missile attack on the place of the "court" in order to later blame Ukraine for this and thereby shake the morale of Ukrainians.

The top tip for citizens on Independence Day this year is to go to shelter as soon as you hear the alarm and stay there until the call is made. At the same time, the relevant rule should be followed not only on holidays, but every day. Also, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recommends staying at home if possible and studying the locations of bomb shelters in advance when planning your routes.
