Work visa
A business visa or work visa for Bahrain is the most common visa for visiting Bahrain. Purposes can be motorsport events, education, healthcare, non-governmental organization, charity, sport, conference, exhibition, transport, journalism or any other use of your business.
You can apply for a visa through the embassy or online. Depending on the options you choose and your eligibility, you can get a single-entry or multiple-entry visa.
If you need to work in Bahrain, only your employer can help you get this category of visa. For this, it is necessary to issue a special request and a letter of guarantee from the employer.
Only a person with an open business visa, which is opened by the employer and approved by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country, has the right to work in Bahrain.
To find a workplace in this country, you need:
- Signed employment contract with the employer;
- Employment permit in Bahrain;
- Work visa.
The term of the work visa is determined in advance, and ranges from 30 days to 2 years, with possible extension.
Steps for obtaining a business visa:
- Submit an online application;
- Download scans of all documents;
- Pay the visa fee;
- Wait for confirmation of receipt of all documents and the issuance of the visa itself;
- Print the approved work permit and submit it to the Migration Office (NPRA);
- Make an online appointment for the collection of biometric materials;
- Get an ID card from the Central Information Organization (CIO).
A medical examination is required for every person applying for an employment permit in the Kingdom of Bahrain according to the local legislate. The purpose of this law is to ensure medical safety and public safety in relation to infectious diseases. For those who have not passed the medical examination, LMRA will take measures to ensure the medical suitability of foreign workers in accordance with Order No. (71) of 2007.
Company registration in Bahrain is governed by the Commercial Companies Law (2001) and its exemptions. Among other regulatory acts are the orders of the Ministry of Commerce.
Depending on the specifics of the enterprise's activity, its work may be regulated by other relevant laws and legislative acts.
Management of the company
- The company is managed by one or more managers who are partners;
- There are no requirements for the board of directors, except when the number of partners is more than 10 people;
- The manager has the right to sign on behalf of the enterprise, except for the case when any restriction is introduced to the founding agreement;
- The company can have a minimum of two shareholders, a maximum of 50.
Share capital
- It is possible to register a company in Bahrain with a minimum capital of 20,000 Bahraini dinars (BHD);
- The capital should be divided into equal shares (50 BHD each);
- Shares are not subject to division and cannot be in free circulation;
- The company can be registered only after the cash, fully paid, is distributed among the partners.
Other requirements
- The office must be located in Bahrain, and the company must conduct its activities outside the jurisdiction. Exceptions are types of activities that require licensing;
- The company name must end with Company with limited liability (W.L.L.);
- A limited liability company does not have the right to engage in banking, insurance, or investment of third-party funds near Bahrain.
Taxes and accounting
- Companies registered in Bahrain are exempt from income tax. An exception is the activity of enterprises engaged in the gas and oil sector;
- Auditing and accounting reporting are mandatory requirements.
- Unlike other Islamic countries, there is an interest rate on loans in the banking system of Bahrain;
- Bahrain has the same liquidation and bankruptcy laws as all developed countries in the world.
