What are the requirements for renting a car in Germany?
- The minimum age for renting a car is 21 (depending on the company, it may be 25 for certain categories of cars).
- Driving experience: minimum 1–3 years to rent a vehicle.
What documents are required to rent a car?
- Passport
- Driver's license (international or Ukrainian)
- Credit card for deposit
- Insurance (may be included in the rental price)
What are the rental conditions?
- Rental period.
You can rent a car for various periods, from a few hours to several weeks. For short trips around cities, cars are usually available for a few hours.
- Car return.
Many companies offer car returns at other locations, such as airports or train stations.
- Insurance.
Basic insurance is usually included in the rental price, but you can also take out additional damage insurance (CDW) or theft insurance.
Car rental prices in Germany
- Economy class: from 30 to 50 euros per day.
- Mid-range and SUVs: €60 to €100 per day.
Traffic rules in Germany
- Mandatory equipment — fire extinguisher, first aid kit, emergency stop sign, and reflective vest.
- Passengers taller than 150 cm and older than 12 years old can ride in the front seat. Children under 12 years old must be transported in a child seat or booster seat.
- Using a phone while driving is prohibited.

Speed limits
- In cities: maximum speed is 50 km/h.
- On motorways: 130 km/h (recommended but not mandatory).
- On roads outside built-up areas: 100 km/h.
Penalties for violations
- Speeding: fines range from €20 to €400 depending on how much the speed limit was exceeded.
- Parking: fines for illegal parking can be as high as €30–70.
- Driving under the influence: fines from €500 and above, as well as possible loss of driving privileges.

- Exchange personal information with other parties involved in the accident (driver's license, insurance, license plate number).
- Record the damage and take photos if necessary.
- If there are injuries or serious damage, call an ambulance at 112.
