Citizenship is automatically granted to children if:
- At least one of the parents is an Icelandic citizen.

For most Ukrainians who want to obtain citizenship, the naturalization procedure is suitable. It implies that you must meet certain criteria and live in the country for a set period of time.
The main conditions for naturalization are:
1. Residence in Iceland for at least 7 years.
2. Exceptions to the rules:
- Ukrainians who are married to an Icelandic citizen can obtain citizenship after 4 years of residence in Iceland after the marriage. An additional condition is that your partner must have held Icelandic citizenship for at least 5 years.
- Children of an Icelandic citizen are eligible for naturalization after 2 years of residence.
- If you are a refugee or have a residence permit in Iceland for humanitarian reasons, you can apply for citizenship after living in the country for the last 5 years since obtaining this status.
- If you are stateless under the Aliens Act and have lived in Iceland for the last 5 years, you can apply for citizenship.

What is naturalization?
Naturalization is the last stage of integration into Icelandic society. It gives you the right to fully participate in the life of the country, including voting in elections and the opportunity to hold certain positions.
Where to apply for Icelandic citizenship?
An application for citizenship must be submitted to the Icelandic Immigration Department (Útlendingastofnun). In some cases, the Icelandic Parliament may consider the issue of granting citizenship.
What are the steps to be taken to obtain citizenship?
1. Collect all the necessary documents. The main package of documents includes:
