Traveling abroad from Ukraine: the most convenient routes, rules and necessary documents
The war in Ukraine caused mass migration of Ukrainians to other countries. Due to the large number of people fleeing the war, going abroad became a real challenge. However, among the existing options there are the most convenient routes to get to safer cities in other countries.

Departure from Ukraine to Poland
Every day, the Intercity train (705K/715K) or train 053K departs on the route Kyiv - Przemyśl. At night departure at 19:48 (arrival at 7:21, excluding possible delay). Tickets cost approximately UAH 1,500.
The next step is to get to the airport by train. This can be done by trains to Rzeszów, Krakow, Katowice and Lublin.
From Rzeszów, you can comfortably fly to Ireland, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Norway or the Netherlands.
Krakow or Katowice offer more options to continue the journey by plane. Many low-cost carriers Ryanair and Wizz Air have opened many routes in all directions.
Lublin airport is the most distant of all. There you can also buy tickets for travel to European countries.
If there is a need to fly to distant countries, it is better to use the services of the Warsaw airport. You can get there directly from Kyiv by train 067 Kyiv-Warsaw. Buses to the capital of Poland also run, but please note that the trip will take 16-20 hours.
Departure from Ukraine to Slovakia
The most optimal option is the airport in Kosice. The bus from Uzhhorod arrives at its destination in less than 4 hours. Then you can go on low-cost buses to Austria, the Czech Republic, Ireland and Great Britain.
Departure from Ukraine to Romania
The most convenient option if you start your route from Chernivtsi, Zakarpattia, Vinnytsia or Odesa regions. From the Slovak airport in Suceava, you can fly to Austria, Belgium, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, France and Cyprus.
Departure from Ukraine to Hungary
To get to Hungary, we recommend using trains:
• express #33/34 "Mukachevo – Budapest-Nyugati" (2 times a day)
• "Chop - Zahon" train
• night train #749 "Kyiv – Vienna"
Further, from the airport of Debrecen or Budapest, you can fly to Bulgaria, Greece, Spain, Israel, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, France and other countries.
Departure from Ukraine to Moldova
It is most convenient to start this route from Odessa. Chisinau can be reached by bus in about 6 hours. From there, there are options to go by plane to Georgia, Ireland, Italy, Israel, Germany, the United Kingdom, Poland, Romania, Turkey, France and the Czech Republic.
Who can leave Ukraine to other countries?
We remind you that during martial law, only certain categories of persons can go abroad.
Conscripted men and women on the military register cannot leave the country according to the law.
In order to cross the border, in addition to a passport, conscripts must provide documents confirming the status of a person who is not subject to conscription for military service during mobilization and has the right to leave Ukraine.
Women and children can travel abroad with a Ukrainian or international passport and a child's birth certificate.
