Citizens of Ukraine who plan to cross the border with Poland must show their document in the Polish application diia.pl during passport control. Find out who is affected by the new requirement and how to get a certificate in the app
From now on, Ukrainians crossing the border with Poland must show documents at diia.pl. The relevant requirements were published by the State Border Service of Ukraine.
What will change when crossing the Polish border for Ukrainian citizens?
Ukrainians who have a PESEL UKR and are returning from Ukraine to Poland must do the following during passport control:
• Tell border guards entering Poland to exercise the right to temporary protection;
• Show your electronic document in the diia.pl application.
We would like to add that following these steps is necessary to maintain PESEL UKR status after leaving Poland for up to 30 days.
Is it possible to enter Poland without diia.pl?
If you do not inform the border guards about the status of temporary protection and do not present an electronic document, you will not be entered in special registers - as a result, you will lose your status, as well as social benefits and payments.
How can Ukrainians get a passport at diia.pl?
The Diia.pl document is available in the mObywatel mobile application. Read this guide on how to generate a digital document.
After creating an electronic document, you can show it to the border guard and calmly cross the border.
Advantages of diia.pl
The document in the diia.pl application allows Ukrainians not only to enter Poland from Ukraine. With it you will be able to travel in the countries of the Schengen Agreement.
Diia.pl for children
According to Polish law, children over the age of 13 can create a digital document in the application.
If the child is younger, it is necessary to identify his/her identity by showing the border guards the foreign passport or other document with which the child crossed the border after February 24, and PESEL UKR.
We will remind you! According to the Special Law on Assistance to Ukrainian Citizens in Poland, obtaining a PESEL UKR number is currently not mandatory. However, the updated rules for the stay of Ukrainians will soon enter into force. Read about what will change in 2023, how and when to issue the mandatory PESEL UKR here.
