Polish authorities have tightened the rules for importing pets from Ukraine. The "pre-war" requirements are now in effect. Find out more about what has changed
Poland has changed the rules for importing pets from Ukraine. The Ministry of Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine reports on the relevant decision of the government.
Previously, Ukrainian citizens traveling to Poland could cross the border with their pets under simplified conditions.
In particular, it was allowed to transport dogs, cats and ferrets with a minimum package of documents. All that was required was a chip, a rabies vaccination, and a European-style veterinary passport. However, the country recently canceled this rule.

New rules for transporting pets from Ukraine to Poland
From now on, Ukrainian citizens will be subject to the general conditions for the importation of animals that apply in the EU.
The list of documents listed above (chip, rabies vaccination, European-style veterinary passport) has been supplemented by:
- a health certificate;
- a written declaration confirming that the import of the pet is not commercial;
- results of testing the level of antibodies against rabies.
We remind you! Earlier, we reported that Poland has canceled the simplified conditions for the movement of pets from the territory of Ukraine. Read more about the general criteria of EU legislation that pets must meet during transportation in our material.
