How many Ukrainians are employed in the Czech Republic?

According to the Ministry of Labor, more than 113 thousand Ukrainian refugees with temporary protection are already employed in the Czech Republic.

This success of Ukrainian refugees was made possible by a package of laws known as Lex Ukrajina, which was introduced by the Czech government. Amendments to this package of laws are planned to be considered by the Parliament, Senate and the President of the country. The Ministry of Labor is also preparing for the seventh phase of changes within this legislative package.

According to the Minister of Labor, Marian Jurečka, the number of employed refugees has been growing since the beginning of July this year, when the rules of social assistance were changed.

Currently, more than 9,000 Ukrainians work in the Czech labor market.

The contribution of Ukrainians to the development of the Czech economy

According to government estimates, this initiative will bring significant financial benefits to the Czech budget, approximately 12 to 15 billion Czech crowns, which corresponds to more than half a billion euros.

"We must look at this issue through the prism of the very important contribution of Ukrainian refugee workers to Czech society as a whole," - says the Minister of Labor.

According to him, Ukrainians work in the service sector, healthcare and social assistance.

At the same time, the Ministry of Labor plans to revise the social assistance system. According to the Ministry of the Interior, as of September 10, there were 367,700 Ukrainian refugees with temporary protection visas in the Czech Republic.

The Ministry plans to assess the results of the benefits cuts since July and changes in household income.

According to the minister, the adjustment of the rules for providing assistance will be gradual.
