New migration trends: in which European countries is the number of Ukrainians decreasing?

The situation with the departure of Ukrainian refugees is determined by different trends in many European countries. Recently, some countries have experienced a decrease in the number of Ukrainian refugees leaving. However, some countries are experiencing an influx. The number of Ukrainian refugees in Europe continues to grow. In particular, the EU countries have seen a steady increase in asylum, which has already been used by almost 4.2 million Ukrainians.


At the same time, while some countries are witnessing an influx of refugees, others are noting an active outflow of Ukrainians. This is evidenced by Eurostat data.


In which countries is the number of Ukrainian refugees growing?


The latest estimates show that 4,186,165 people from Ukraine have already been granted temporary protection in the EU. The leaders in terms of the number of refugees are:


• Germany - 1,194,900 people;

• Poland - 958,655 people;

• Czech Republic - 357,960 people.


Also, a significant number of Ukrainians found refuge in Spain (187,205 people), Italy (161,220 people) and Bulgaria (166,535 people).


Some countries continue to attract Ukrainians. According to the results of September, the increase in refugees was particularly large in:


• Germany - (+19,205 people; +1.6%);

• The Netherlands - (+3,685 people; +2.8%);

• Ireland - (+2,875 people; +3.2%).

Which European countries are Ukrainian refugees leaving?


On the contrary, five European countries recorded an outflow of Ukrainians with temporary protection:


• Czech Republic (-7,125 persons; -2%);

• France (-2,155 persons; -3.2%);

• Poland (-1,895 persons, -0.2%);

• Slovenia (-405 persons, -4.6%);

• Luxembourg (-10 people, -0.2%).


In particular, in August, a large number of Ukrainian refugees left Poland (-10,530 persons), Italy (-550 persons) and France (-420 persons).
