A new direct train to Istanbul will soon be launched from the border city of Bucharest. This new route will operate for four months, starting on June 14. Find out more about the schedule and other details

Romanian railway company CFR has announced the launch of a new direct train from Bucharest to Istanbul.

Direct train Bucharest-Istanbul: details


A direct train to Istanbul will soon be launched from the border city of Bucharest, which will run for four months - from June 14 to October 14


This route will also pass through Bulgaria with stops in Sofia and Varna. 


How will it run?


The train will depart from Bucharest Nord station at 10:47 and arrive at Istanbul Halkali station at 6:34 the next day. 


Stops are scheduled in Sofia at 20:21 and in Varna at 20:55. The total travel time will be about 20 hours.


In the opposite direction, departure from Istanbul will take place at 20:00 and arrival in Bucharest will be at 17:17 the next day. There will be stops in Sofia at 7:00 and in Varna at 7:45.

What is the price of a Bucharest-Istanbul train ticket?


The price of tickets from Bucharest to Istanbul is 56 euros (approximately 2300 hryvnia). You can travel from Bucharest to Varna for 31 euros, and to Sofia for 32 euros (approximately 1300 hryvnias).


Tickets are already available online on the carrier's website.
