Bilodid's departure, Kharlan's success and more: how Ukrainians perform at the Olympics in Paris
Some Ukrainian athletes have already performed at the Olympic Games in Paris. Find out what results they have shown and whether there are any chances for medals at the moment
The Summer Olympics have been taking place in Paris for several days now, with 140 Ukrainian athletes having obtained 123 licences to participate in 26 of the 32 Olympic sports. During these game days, some Ukrainians have already managed to compete. Here's a look at their results.
Belodid leaves the Olympics
Ukrainian judoka Daria Bilodid lost to Japanese Haruka Funakubo due to disciplinary violations.
The Ukrainian had a successful start at the Games in Paris. In the 1/16 finals, Bilodid put down Kiribati's Nehru Tibwa in 5 seconds, defeating her opponent by an ippon.
However, in the next round, the Ukrainian had a more serious fight with Haruka Funakubo, twice a world vice-champion in the division (2022, 2023). During the fight, both athletes received a shido - a warning. As a result, the match went into extra time, where the Ukrainian lost, collecting three shidos.
Harlan to fight for medals
Fencer Olga Kharlan has already shown a good result at the Olympics, making it to the semi-finals. Thus, the Ukrainian athlete guaranteed herself a medal fight.
In the 1/4 finals, Harlan competed against Anna Marton of Hungary. The match ended with Harlan winning with a score of 15:7.
On the evening of 29 July, it will be revealed whether Harlan managed to win the first medal for Ukraine at these Olympic Games.

Meanwhile, Diana Yastremska failed to cope with Colombian Camila Osorio Serrano and dropped out of the Olympics. The Ukrainian lost in two sets (7:6, 6:4).
However, Ukraine is also represented at the Games in tennis by Elina Svitolina, who managed to make it to the second round yesterday, defeating Japan's Moyuka Utijima. In the second round of the Olympics in Paris, Elina Svitolina will play against American Jessica Pegula, who is ranked sixth in the world rankings.
