Snow in Austria, floods in Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania: what weather changes did Cyclone Boris cause in different European countries?
Last week, Europe was hit by the massive cyclone Boris. Floods and snowstorms affected Austria, Poland, the Czech Republic, Romania and a number of other countries. Find out what the situation in Europe is now and how Ukraine has joined the EU's assistance
In recent days, Ukrainians have been experiencing fierce winds and heavy rains in some regions. This is a response to the storm cyclone Boris, which hit a number of European countries last week. The most difficult situation is in the Czech Republic and Romania, with trains to Ukraine from the Czech Republic and Poland cancelled. Every day, the country's authorities inform about new evacuation and rescue operations. Read the article to find out what the situation is like in Europe today.

The threat level is the highest in the Czech Republic. At the moment, settlements in the Jesenice and Opava regions are at risk of drowning. The mayor of Jesenice, Zdeněka Blištěňová, said that the priority is to evacuate people who did not manage to get to safe places in time. According to her, several houses in Jeseník are already under water.
The authorities of the Czech Republic report that several people are missing. At the moment, flood barriers have been lowered in Prague and evacuations continue.
Romania
Which international trains of Ukrzaliznytsia are delayed and which have been cancelled: new timetable?
Due to the floods, some train services from the Czech Republic and Poland to Ukraine have been cancelled. The following information is currently available:
- The flight Vienna - Kyiv - Vienna is running as Budapest - Kyiv - Budapest;
- The Chop - Vienna flight using Hungarian Intercity coaches is limited to Budapest;
- Prague - Przemysl - Prague flights have been cancelled;
- The flight ‘Prague - Chop’ is being detoured and will arrive in Chop +2 hours ahead of schedule. From Chop - as scheduled.
- All trains between Ukraine and Warsaw, Chełm, Przemysl, Kosice, Budapest, and Záhony are running as usual.
‘Ukrzaliznytsia said that it will accept passengers with tickets for any flight of the same destination within the next day to any available seats without exchanging tickets.
For Ukrainians travelling to Poland and the Czech Republic, Ukrzaliznytsia recommends contacting the Czech or Polish railway operator (depending on the destination) to find out the current flight schedule.
Cyclone Boris has reached Odesa: what is known so far?
The large-scale downpour in Odesa on 15 September is a ‘greeting’ from the strong cyclone Boris that hit Europe a few days ago.
As a result of the downpour, several streets in Kyivskyi and Peresypskyi districts were flooded, and traffic was hampered on neighbouring streets: Heavenly Hundred and Akademika Glushko avenues, Chikalenko, Inglesi, Khimichna, Balkivska, Varnenska, Primorskaya, Tserkovna, Ataman Chepiga streets and Gazovyi lane. Emergency crews of the utility services are on duty here.
The area of Peresypskyi Bridge is in the flood zone.
Trams 12, 15 and 20 are currently suspended in Odesa.
