Temporary visa-free regime for British citizens extended in Ukraine

The President of Ukraine extended the visa-free regime for entry into Ukraine and transit through Ukrainian territory for British citizens until January 30, 2023.

Decree of the head of state No. 12/2022 states: "To extend the visa-free regime for entry into Ukraine and transit through the territory of Ukraine for citizens of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, if their stay in Ukraine does not exceed 90 days within 180 days, until January 30 2023".

The document has already entered into force.

A temporary visa-free regime for UK citizens for a period of 1 year was introduced at the end of January 2020. This is the third year that this period has been extended.

Entry rules to Ukraine for British citizens

All foreigners, regardless of age, vaccination status and country of arrival, to enter Ukraine must have an insurance policy that covers the costs associated with COVID-19 treatment, observation, and is valid for the entire period of stay in the country.

Fully vaccinated tourists, if they have been vaccinated with a WHO-approved vaccine, are entitled to free entry – without additional tests or quarantine.

Free entry also applies to those who have proof of a past coronavirus disease in the form of a COVID certificate (EU DCC or equivalent from a country connected to the EU network). Please note that Ukraine does not accept doctor's certificates, positive tests or antibody tests.

If the tourist is not vaccinated or his documents do not meet the requirements of Ukraine, he must have a negative test result (PCR or antigen) carried out no more than 72 hours before crossing the border. At the border, you must also install and activate the Vdoma mobile app and start self-isolation 72 hours after entry. During this time, a tourist can undergo PCR testing or do an express antigen test (including right at the airport) – in case of a negative result, self-isolation does not apply. If a negative test result is not received within 72 hours from the moment of crossing the border, you need to self-isolate for 10 days at the place indicated during authorization in the Vdoma application.
