The British government has eased the conditions of entry for underage refugees as part of the Homes for Ukraine program. Now, it is not mandatory to be accompanied by a parent or guardian to cross the border. This is reported by European Truth with reference to The Guardian.

From now on, a minor can cross the state border on his own, if one of the parents or a guardian confirms that it is necessary for the child's welfare.

Britons who agree to accept a minor Ukrainian must take responsibility for the child for at least three years or until he or she turns eighteen.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the United Kingdom, the submitted applications from Ukrainian children have already been approved. New ones are accepted from August 10. The Guardian also notes that thousands of children remained in Ukraine and in territories temporarily controlled by Russia due to the unaccompanied entry ban that was in effect earlier.

"Homes for Ukraine" is a project that allows refugees to get free housing in the state for 6 months. At the same time, the sponsor (host) must be a local resident or organization. The program of assistance to Ukrainian families is aimed at those who wish to reunite with a relative living in the country or enter together with a family member who is a resident of Great Britain.

To date, about 203,100 Ukrainian refugees have received permission to stay temporarily in the country. As of August 9, 56,900 citizens of Ukraine participated in the program for Ukrainian families. In the sponsorship program "Homes for Ukraine" - 146,200. 8,500 refugees were given the opportunity to extend their stay in Great Britain.
