Military personnel who voluntarily joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and during their leave do not have the opportunity to meet their families abroad will be able to obtain the right to leave.
The draft law "On amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On social and legal protection of military personnel and members of their families" was registered in the parliament, on the initiative of People's Deputy Serhiy Rudyk. One of the main innovations is to provide an opportunity for military personnel to go abroad to visit their relatives during their vacation.
"Not the only category of citizens who most deserve the right to travel abroad are military personnel. Many of them voluntarily joined the Armed Forces, were "at zero" for months, and during the vacation should have the opportunity to meet their families who are abroad. Such trips will become for them a kind of psychological rehabilitation and a powerful incentive to fight in the war for independence. Also, this is the only category that does not require humiliating "cash deposits" or other forms of guaranteeing their return to Ukraine. But everyone will return with a much stronger motivation to fight against the occupiers", - said Rudyk.
According to the people's deputy, the draft law provides that, during the martial law, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other categories who directly participated in measures to ensure the defense of Ukraine for at least 90 days have the right to use leave to travel abroad in order to visit blood relatives or after marriage
"The provisions of the draft law also define the procedure for granting military personnel such vacations. At the same time, the duration of such vacation is calculated without taking into account the time required to travel to the place of vacation and back, but no more than four days one way. The draft law also stipulates that military personnel are granted leave on the condition that no more than 5% of the total number of the unit is absent at the same time. This is the current norm, but it "works" exceptionally in the OOS zone, which, for obvious reasons, has now in fact gone far beyond the boundaries of certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions", - said Rudyk.
In addition, the draft law proposes to count military service time against years of service and work experience for granting pensions on preferential terms - at the rate of one month of service for three months of work.
