About this tour

Thousands of tourists go to Kamianets-Podilskyi to see Bakota - an incredibly beautiful place where the Dniester waters flooded the village of Bakota during the construction of the hydroelectric power station. Thousands of stories about how much you missed out on not seeing this beauty.

But do the residents of Dnipro know that they have their own Bakota? The Dnieper rapids, flooded during the construction of the Zaporizhzhia hydroelectric power plant, did not destroy all the beauty of the rapids underwater. We are opening incredibly beautiful places for you and everyone else, from the Sura rapids and the mouths of the Sura and Dnieper rivers to the Lokhan rapids and Snake Island.

This tour combines the history and legends of modern and flooded villages, preserved ancient huts and household items and tasting local delicacies, hiking along particularly beautiful scenic paths and rocks, rest and a photo session on the eagle's nest.

Program

9.30 - departure of the group from the railway station by a comfortable bus. One hour's drive - and you and I are already admiring the majesty of the Dnieper waters and the cliffs on the road, where the Dnieper waters are only three meters from the wheels of our bus. Our first stop is a 5-minute walk to a place called the Rock. It was in this place that the Lokhansky Threshold was located. It was believed that he was one of the terrible, disastrous rapids. As Yavornytskyi wrote, on the left side of the threshold was the Buts stone (named in memory of the pilot Buts, who crashed on this stone), on the right - a stone rock. Between them lay the main passage, narrower compared to other rapids. To get into this move so as not to get caught on a rock or a Butsiv stone is the skill of a pilot. No stones were visible above the threshold. Only when they crossed the threshold, it was then visible how water was rolling through the Butsy stone, falling as if into an abyss, with eddies and debris, and forming a funnel. uttsiv stone is currently underwater, and the Rock is well-preserved, although not in the same form as it once was, because a quarry was created here during Soviet times. Moreover, in these very rocks, according to legend, there was the Snake's Cave, which is still present below near the water, where the Scythian children were born from Hercules and the snake woman. And Zaporizhia Cossacks hid their treasures in these rocks. After that, we move to Snake Island, stopping along the way at the observation deck where the Vorona River flows into the Dnipro, skirting the island of Velikiy Makhartet. Narrow, hard-to-pass roads will lead us to a place that can be compared in beauty to the pictures of glossy magazines with descriptions of exotic countries. Strilcha Rock and Zmiiny Island - we descend among the rocks to the observation deck, listen to the history of these places and have free time for a photo session and a relaxing rest at the equipped places. Our journey further reminds us of Transcarpathia. Mountains covered with thick vegetation, the road up and down, mighty ravines descending to the Dnipro - it is hard to believe that we are not far from a megalopolis. We are waiting for the museum-manor "Voloshka Khata". Perhaps you have already been to Ukrainian manor museums. But this one is distinguished by extraordinary neatness and cleanliness, a variety of towels and dresses, a special embroidery ornament and pottery. The hut is located on the bank of a steep slope of the Dnieper River, where cranes, storks and other river birds live below. What kind of Vlachs used to live here, what did they do and what is their history - an interesting story from a hostess who loves her country very much and studies local history. After the excursion, we will be treated to tea and plachinda (a cake prepared according to the recipes of our ancestors). Free time, rest, you can have a snack with your products and buy craft jam. We move in the direction of the Sur Pass, several observation decks await us on the way. 500 meters to the place where the Sura River flows into the Dnipro, we get off the bus and continue on to a pedestrian crossing along the path along the Dnipro. An extreme passage along a narrow pier that cuts deep into the river and ends at a small platform in the middle of the water surface 150 meters from the shore. All around is water, high cliffs, nearby is the estuary and the flooded Sursky threshold and the guide's story about the historical events of this place. You will have unique photos from this site! The last 300 meters... Here it is, the estuary is a large body of water... We are on a path with an estuary on one side and a cliff on the other. We climb the cliff to see this beautiful place from a bird's eye view. And... we go to the territory of the villa, which we called "Eagle's Nest", because the villa was located on the high edge of the cliff, like the nest of this mighty bird. Here we are waiting for rest, a walk and a photo shoot in the middle of an exotic park with a view of the mouth of the Sura and the Dnieper, and a treat with delicious tea. And think about how beautiful our Ukraine is and how little we know about the places that are close to us. Departure Approximate arrival in the city of Dnipro - 5:30 p.m.
