Biden's visit to Poland: what restrictions are the authorities introducing on this day for local residents
American President Joe Biden will visit Poland on Tuesday, February 21. In connection with the visit to the capital of the country, increased protection of the city is planned. Find out more about the restrictions warned by the Warsaw authorities
US President Joe Biden, after a historic visit to Ukraine, headed for Poland. His arrival in Warsaw is scheduled for February 21, in connection with which a number of restrictions on traffic and stopping transport are expected in the city. Read more about what residents of the Polish capital should expect below.
Following the example of Kyiv. Is Warsaw waiting for the same automobile collapse as in the Ukrainian capital?
On the morning of February 20, Biden arrived in Ukraine on an unannounced visit that took the residents of the Ukrainian capital by surprise. Usually on Monday, Kyiv roads are filled with cars and jammed with traffic jams due to the start of the working week. However, on the day of Biden's arrival, local police blocked roads on many central streets.
Due to severe restrictions, transport in Kyiv simply stopped, which is why some residents had to get to work on foot. The situation in Kyiv was probably more global, in contrast to what is to be expected in Warsaw. There is one reason for such a conclusion: no one warned about Biden's visit to Ukraine, since the trip was classified at the highest level.
It will be easier to organize traffic in Warsaw, taking into account the restrictions. Biden's arrival in Poland was known weeks in advance, making it easier to plan for all the inconveniences expected in the background of the visit.
What restrictions do the Warsaw authorities warn about?
So, until February 22 in Warsaw it will be forbidden to park cars in the Marriott hotel area, on the streets of the Old Town, including Castle Square.
During the movement of the motorcade with the American president, the police can temporarily stop traffic on several streets. Restrictions on pedestrian traffic near hotels, the Presidential Palace and the Royal Castle may also be introduced.
Changes may also affect public transport. In this connection, the mayor's office asks citizens to use the subway. Against this backdrop, trains on both metro lines will run more frequently.
The temporary restrictions could continue until Feb. 22, when Biden ends his visit to Poland. Also, do not forget that several events are planned in Warsaw in connection with the arrival of the American president. One of them will take place on Tuesday at the Cuban Arcades, where the US leader will speak to the people of Poland.
What do you remember about Biden's visit to Ukraine?
In addition to the fact that a “surprise” awaited the Ukrainians on the way to work from the very morning, the historic visit of the American president was remembered by many details.
Biden visited Ukraine at exactly the moment when it was most needed. The US president's visit was carefully planned to send an important and defiant message to Russian dictator Putin on the eve of the anniversary of the outbreak of all-out war.
The brutality of the American president in Kyiv was embellished by his confident behavior during the air raid, which found the leaders of the United States and Ukraine near the St. Michael Monastery, where the presidents paid tribute to the Ukrainian defenders who died in the war.
In addition, the American leader delivered a very important speech, coupled with the announcement of a new military aid package for Ukraine.
It is important that Biden's visit came at a time when Ukraine expects increased escalation at the front and the launch of its own offensive to drive the invaders from the temporarily occupied territories.
