Spanish bureaucracy: Ukrainians complain about the lack of payments promised by the government
Ukrainians who are currently in Spain can apply for payments. However, most citizens are currently unable to receive funds from the state. Find out more about the problem
Thousands of Ukrainian citizens living in Spain have not yet received the financial assistance promised last year from the state in the amount of 400 euros per month. What is the matter and when the payments are promised, we will tell you below.
According to the Associated Press, in June last year, the Spanish government promised to provide the "most vulnerable" categories of refugees from Ukraine with monthly financial assistance, which was to be paid through the country's regional administrations.
The Spanish authorities also promised families additional payments of 100 euros per month per child.
Finally, in August, the document was approved at the highest level.
However, as of March 3, 2023, the funds have not yet been paid to refugees living in Valencia, Madrid and Catalonia. It is noted that these cities are home to more than two-thirds of the 168,000 Ukrainians under temporary protection.

What do the authorities say?
The Ministry of Inclusion, which is responsible for disbursing the funds, reports that it transferred the data to the regional administrations of Spain in October last year.
Regional officials in Catalonia, for their part, have said they blame the central government and documentation difficulties for the delay.
Currently, the authorities of Valencia and Catalonia expect to pay the aid within a month.
The aid is 400+100 euros in Spain. How to get it?
Persons who are eligible for payments from the state in Spain are those who:
• have temporary protection in Spain;
• are not dependent on official charitable organizations (Red Cross, Caritas, Cear, etc.)
• have a residence permit;
• have no income.
To apply for assistance, you need to register for an appointment with the Social Security Service (on the website, select the section "Make an appointment for pensions and other benefits (INSS)") or call 915412530/901106570.
