The world celebrates Father's Day on June 18. It is dedicated to people who exemplify courage, hard work and responsibility. We'll tell you about the history of the holiday and how important it is in today's realities.

History of Father's Day

The holiday spread around the world from the United States. The initiator of this holiday was Mrs. Dodd, who wanted to express her gratitude to her father, who successfully raised six children after the death of his wife.

This day became a national holiday in the United States in 1966, the year that U.S. President Lyndon Johnson declared the third Sunday in June a national holiday.

Traditionally, during the annual celebrations, the government and ordinary citizens rush to support fathers who are raising children on their own. Over time, other countries that declare respect for family values followed the United States in celebrating this day, paying tribute to fathers.

The essence of the holiday

It is important to note that Father's Day is dedicated not only to those who give us life, but also to those who play the role of support, mentor and protector. They are examples of courage, hard work and responsibility. Fathers help us to grow, develop and become better, always supporting us on our way. Their presence and care have an invaluable impact on our self-esteem, confidence and overall well-being.

Father's Day is not limited to biological fathers. It also recognizes the role of men who replace the father figure in our lives. These can be grandfathers, uncles, older brothers, or other close people who take responsibility and care for us.

This special day is set aside as an opportunity to express gratitude and show our love.

Usually, on June 18, children and their fathers spend the day together doing something special to celebrate their role in their lives. It can be a friendly conversation, a walk together, or a dinner, where we can express our gratitude and emphasize how important fathers are to us.

The importance of Father's Day in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, many fathers and family mentors have gone to the front to protect their families from russian aggression.

In the context of war, fathers face many challenges. They have to balance their responsibilities at the front with their families, which may experience emotional and practical difficulties. They often become the main breadwinners and protectors of their families, trying to ensure their safety and provide them with the necessary resources.

A father who participates in the defense of his country has a great influence on his children. He becomes a symbol of courage, patriotism and strength. He brings up his children, passing on to them the values of responsibility, loyalty and the fight for justice. Children see their fathers as heroes who fight for freedom and security, and this affects their own self-image and perception of masculinity.

At the same time, it is also necessary to pay tribute to those fathers who continue to be with their families. In this particularly difficult period, they become a support and a guide for their children.

On Father's Day in times of war, we must pay tribute to all fathers who are defending their country and their families. We must show them support and care.
