According to Major General Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, russia has fully completed preparations for a terrorist attack on the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. The consequences of the explosion of Europe's largest nuclear power plant will affect the whole world, but the world is still silent.

Situation at ZNPP: what is known

The head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine noted that the situation has never been as serious as it is now and said that the ZNPP cooling pond remains mined. If the nuclear reactors are left without cooling, an irreversible process of cladding meltdown will begin, which can last from 10 hours to 14 days. To speed up this process, russia may deliberately increase the voltage in the power lines at the plant.

In addition, it has become known that russia has additionally deployed equipment with explosives near four of the six existing power units of the nuclear power plant. There is no information that indicates that representatives of the International Atomic Energy Agency had access to and inspected the condition of these power units during their last visit.

Will russia blow up ZNPP?

According to Budanov, at the moment, the only element missing blowing up the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is an order to act. The reason for the terrorist attack could be the military defeat of the russian occupiers on the left bank of the Dnipro River.

Over the past two days, russian military propagandists and the media have been actively spreading information that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have established a small bridgehead on the left bank of Kherson near the Antonivskyi Bridge. The Ukrainian authorities have not commented on these claims, but published videos confirm the success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in this area of the front.

Therefore, russia may use the nuclear disaster as a deterrent to Ukraine's further counteroffensive, as the scorched earth strategy is a standard russian strategy that we see throughout a full-scale invasion.

At the same time, there are no guarantees that russia will not use the attack on the ZNPP as a "preventive measure," i.e., without waiting for an actual defeat at the front.

The international community's reaction to nuclear blackmail

The Ukrainian government is disappointed with the reaction of international institutions and leaders, because even after the Kakhovka Dam explosion, the world did not set clear conditions for russia. Therefore, the aggressor country continues to threaten global security with a nuclear disaster. In addition, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, russia is deliberately using the ZNPP as the main tool of influence on the collective West, as it believes that this will force world leaders to put pressure on Ukraine.

It is worth noting that the occupation forces have recently closed access to information on radiation levels at ZNPP, which is a gross and unacceptable violation of nuclear and radiation safety requirements. At the same time, the IAEA has not yet adopted a resolution that would require the complete demilitarization and de-occupation of the nuclear facility, and therefore the russian military continues to fill the plant with explosives and prevent the free access of IAEA representatives to the entire territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP.

The nuclear blackmail and de facto terrorism that russia is committing in Ukraine are unprecedented. However, the world continues to stand idly by as russia endangers the lives of millions of people.

We remind you! Since the start of the full-scale invasion, most international companies have left the russian market, but some businesses continue to sponsor terrorism.
