What do the West say about the new successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the counteroffensive?
Fierce fighting continues in southern and eastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian army is storming the occupiers' positions in an attempt to liberate as much of the captured territory as possible. Read more about whether the Ukrainian armed forces are making progress on the front and what Western allies are saying about them
For more than two months now, Ukrainian troops have been conducting counteroffensive operations in eastern and southern Ukraine. Although some allies have criticized Ukraine for its slow progress, the Ukrainian side is focused on its strategy, which allows it to minimize losses in the army and liberate the occupied territories slowly but surely. Here's how Western allies are reacting to the new successes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and what forecasts they are making.
Britain notes the progress of Ukrainians
The British Ministry of Defense publishes almost daily overviews of the Ukrainian front, and recently its reports have been linked to the Ukrainian counteroffensive. For example, on August 19, British intelligence analyzed the offensive actions of Ukraine and russian troops.
According to the intelligence, over the past week, most of the front line in Ukraine remained unchanged, but in the south, Ukrainian troops continued to advance along the Mokry Yaly River, holding the village of Vrozhayne despite fierce russian resistance.
Meanwhile, in the area of Kupyansk, Kharkiv region, russian troops continued to conduct test attacks, but did not achieve significant success.
As you know, on August 16, the Ukrainian side officially announced the liberation of the village of Urozhayne in Donetsk region. After that, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that Ukrainian troops had succeeded to the south of the liberated village.
Ukrainian forces break through minefield in the south
U.S. officials told CBS News that the Ukrainian military appears to have made progress in its offensive against the russian-held town of Tokmak, an important barrier town between Ukrainian forces and the city of Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia region.
The Americans note the breakthrough of the Ukrainian Armed Forces through a russian minefield north of Tokmak. According to them, Ukrainian forces engaged the first line of russian defense.
At the same time, experts believe that recapturing cities such as Tokmak and further advancing to Melitopol will be a difficult task for the Ukrainian counteroffensive, which has been making gradual progress since the beginning of the summer.

Ukrainian Armed Forces create a bridgehead on the left bank of the Kherson region
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) report that the Defense Forces continue their counter-battery fight to create a bridgehead on the left bank of the Kherson region.
It is worth noting that a successful raid by the Ukrainian military on the left bank of the Kherson region was recently reported, during which the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to capture a group of russian scouts, including a russian army major.
At the same time, the Deepstate monitoring portal, which monitors the situation at the front, marks some areas on the left bank of the Dnipro River in gray, indicating the possible presence of Ukrainian soldiers in these areas.
Situation on the southern border
The Ukrainian military offensive continues in Zaporizhzhya and Donetsk regions. The Ukrainian Armed Forces' successes are noticeable in several areas of the southern front, in particular on the Berdiansk and Melitopol directions.
It is worth noting that the Armed Forces have not yet launched a major offensive as part of the summer counteroffensive. So far, the situation on the southern horizon is progressing slowly, but very steadily.
As previously reported by the Western media, the Ukrainian military command has changed its tactics, focusing on depleting russian forces with artillery and long-range missiles instead of going deeper into minefields under fire.
Russia has already lost, no matter what
US President Joe Biden has called vladimir putin's arguments for the invasion of Ukraine "ridiculous" and said that russia has already lost the war because it is unable to achieve its original goal.
"Russia has already lost. It cannot achieve its original goal, which it claimed. It is impossible," the American president said.
We remind you! Ukraine is gradually blocking all routes for the supply of weapons and the movement of russian reserves in the south of the country. Read here how the strikes on bridges in Crimea and Kherson region will affect the supply of the russian army and Ukraine's counteroffensive.
