Ukrainians in Poland will not be able to obtain a Polish visa: what is known about the changes
From now on, Ukrainians will no longer be able to obtain a Polish visa while staying in Poland. Find out more about the new rules for issuing the document
Changes in the procedure for obtaining a Polish visa will affect Ukrainian citizens who previously enjoyed the opportunity to obtain the document while in Poland. This was reported on the country's government portal.
Obtaining a Polish visa for Ukrainians: what is changing
According to the requirements for August 2023, when applying for a Polish national visa, an applicant using postal or delegated submission must be in the territory of the state where the consulate is located.
If during the check it turns out that the applicant was not in the country where the consulate is located at the time of submission, his/her application will be left without consideration.
"If the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv receives a visa application from a person who does not reside in Ukraine, the application is not considered and returned to the sender," the government website says.

Why is it dangerous to apply for visas to Poland through intermediaries?
The Consulate of Ukraine in Gdansk has issued an explanation indicating that a Polish visa obtained through intermediaries, even if it does not provide for departure from Poland, does not give the right to legal residence. To obtain this status, an additional stamp of the Polish border guard confirming entry into the country is required on the page of the passport with the visa.
The Consulate emphasizes that it is impossible to legalize your residence on the basis of this visa. For citizens who are in Poland and wish to stay there for various reasons and do not leave its territory, the possibility of legalizing their residence status is available through voivodeship offices at their place of residence. For this purpose, they can obtain a temporary or permanent residence permit.
The explanation also indicates that until March 4, 2024, citizens of Ukraine who arrived in Poland due to the military events in Ukraine after February 24, 2022, as well as those who stayed in Poland before February 24, 2022 on the basis of Polish national visas or temporary residence permits, which expired before July 1, 2023, may legally stay in Poland.
