The article below explains who is eligible for these types of support and what conditions must be met to receive funds.

Good Start assistance

This one-time payment of PLN 300 is aimed at supporting parents in preparing their children for the school year. You can apply for Good Start from July 1 through the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS).

Who is eligible for support?

The assistance is available to parents, guardians, foster families, heads of children's homes and directors of educational institutions. It is provided regardless of the family's income.

Parents can receive 300 PLN for a child under 20 years of age who is in school (or up to 24 years of age for a child with disabilities).

Important: this benefit is not available to children attending kindergartens or preschools.

When to apply?

Please note! The deadline for submission is November 30, but it is better to submit it by the end of August to receive the payment by September 30, 2024. Applications submitted later will be processed within two months from the date of submission.

There are several ways to submit an application:

- via the mZUS app,

- the ZUS electronic services platform (PUE),

- Emp@tia portal,

Family allowance and additional payments

Family allowance is granted for a grace period lasting from November 1 to October 31 of the following year.

Applications can be submitted online via the Emp@tia portal (https://empatia.mpips.gov.pl) from July 1 or in paper form from August 1.

Please note! Applications must be submitted to the commune administration at the place of residence. To maintain the continuity of payments, the application must be submitted by the end of August 2024.

The allowance is intended to partially cover the costs of raising a child. The income criterion must be met: PLN 674 per person or PLN 764 if the family has a disabled child. For the period of 2024/2025, the income for 2023 is taken into account.

Benefit amounts:

- PLN 95 per child under 5 years of age,

- PLN 124 per child from 5 to 18 years old,

- PLN 135 for a child aged 18 to 24 years.

Allowance from the alimony fund

This allowance is intended for persons who are entitled to alimony but do not receive it due to unsuccessful collection. Like family allowance, it is set for a certain period from October 1 to September 30 of the following year.

Applications can be submitted online via the Emp@tia portal (https://empatia.mpips.gov.pl) starting July 1 or in paper form starting August 1.

Your application must be accompanied by a certificate from the enforcement authority or a statement of unsuccessful collection. The maximum amount of assistance is PLN 500 per month.

Who is eligible for such support?

The allowance is provided until the child reaches the age of 18 (up to 25 years in case of secondary school or university studies). Children with a significant degree of disability may receive the allowance indefinitely.

As of October 1, 2023, the income criterion for receiving assistance from the alimony fund is PLN 1209 per person in the family. In case of exceeding this threshold, the "zloty for zloty" rule applies.
