New restrictions in Prykarpattia: which tourist routes in Ivano-Frankivsk region are off limits?
In Ivano-Frankivsk region, near the border with Romania, restrictions have been imposed on travel on tourist routes. Find out which locations have become inaccessible and what exceptions are provided for local residents
New temporary restrictions have been introduced in Ivano-Frankivsk region, near the border with Romania. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Read more about the new rules below.
Restrictions for tourists in Ivano-Frankivsk region
The innovations apply to a 5-kilometer zone near the border in the Zelenska and Biloberizka united territorial communities of Verkhovyna district. Temporary restrictions include a ban on entry to the 5-kilometer-wide border strip, including tourist, recreational and fishing routes.
It is also forbidden to drive in the said zone:
– Vehicular traffic during the curfew.
– Congestion of vehicles (more than two).
– Stops lasting more than 20 minutes if they are not related to technical malfunctions.
– Driving on roads that are not listed in the road registers and lead to the border.
– Drivers are prohibited from driving to the border area persons without the documents required by the Regulation on the Border Regime.
– Hunting and transportation of weapons without permits.
– Use of night vision devices, thermal imagers and radio stations, except for those installed on special equipment.
– Use and flight of light-engine and unmanned aerial vehicles.
In addition, the new rules also prohibit work in the restricted area, with the exception of:
– Agricultural and construction works in accordance with international agreements.
– Work on structures of national importance.
– Elimination of the consequences of natural disasters and especially dangerous infectious diseases.
However, these activities require permits from the border guard detachment.

Exceptions: who can visit the prohibited areas
Permits to enter the restricted area can be obtained by:
1. Persons permanently or temporarily residing or working within the declared zone.
2. Owners of land plots within the restricted area.

In addition, despite the fact that the movement of vehicles in the controlled border areas during the curfew is prohibited, there are exceptions. They apply to:
– persons entering the border area to cross the state border at checkpoints (control points) across the state border;
– persons (truck drivers and accompanying persons) entering the border area for multimodal transportation.
Which tourist routes in Prykarpattia are subject to restrictions?
The following tourist routes within Ivano-Frankivsk region are now under temporary restrictions:
📍 Pohorilets, Hadzhyna, Podorovaty, Hungarian Rocks tracts.
Polonyny Krynta, Lukovytsia, Shyroka and Vesnarka.
📍 Peaks Chivchyn, Smotrych, Vuhaty Kamen, Pip Ivan, Brebeneskul, Pozhezhevska,
📍 Menchul, Turkul, Mala Hoverla, Breskul, Kostrych, Yavirnyk, Popadya, Masny Pryslip, Goichna, Dukonya, Pniev.
📍 Lake Maricheyka and Kryvopilsky pass.
